Got the engine fired up and the first 40 miles on it. Still babying it, but man does it idle butter smooth now.

Tore the engine back down to the block, the orifice was in place but I went ahead and replaced it with the new one.

What tool did you use to remove/ install the oil orifice? For me a 4mm Allen was too small, 4.5mm Allen was too big. Tried a torx bit as well as standard Allens but nothing felt like it fit snug enough to not strip it.. What the heck fits in that thing to remove it?

I'm not sure what size it was but I got one of the allen wrenches I keep on a key chain to remove it. Well technically that's how I installed it, the machine shop removed it when they dipped the block so I can't say how hard it was to get out the first time, but the allen wrench worked the other times.

Well crap, I can see what this went into in my head, pretty sure there were four of these washers and it looks like somehow one fell out without me noticing, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it actually went to.

I'm guessing it was the tcase shifter bracket, but didn't want to take that all back apart to verify. Anyone have a better memory regarding this shoulder washer than me? I need to invest in some good gloves as well...

Still breaking the engine in, have about 220 miles on it at this point. Been gradually adding a little more power, and tonight I noticed some ticking under load around 3k. That's about as much as I've pushed it so not sure how it would sound under more extreme circumstances, but curious as to what it is. Kinda sounds like an exhaust tick?

Here's a vid for those interested.

Timing is stock/slightly retarded and have been running premium from the first start since I have a little more compression than stock, just to be safe for now. On another note, the last 100 miles averaged 14mpg so not bad.
