I wonder if it gives you more room to access the fuel filter.

The fuel filter is relocated on FZJ100 models. It is out in the open.

I've got an fzj100 coming to Canada in the fall. But if you're seriously wanting to overhaul this I can get lots of pics and P/Ns.

Dang I was all excited reading after ya'll hooked me but you didnt reel me in :(
any one figure out if the new intake manifold bolts up to the old head?

just out here reviving dead threads :)

The parts from the later model 1FZFE are in fact interchangeable to the version you guys had in the US, the only thing is that you will need a lot of parts to complete the set. Ie, you're gonna need the WHOLE intake in order for it to work. Maybe you can fab up a custom adapter for the throttle body?

I've seen the later model, "triple coil" engine adapted to 80s before, but people do it to remove the distributor, they believe that will waterproof their engine. Meh.

Even the pistons are different but interchangeable (slightly higher compression I believe?). You won't need to change ECM if you don't move from the distributor ignition to the coil ignition.

Why would you want to change intake manifolds? What are you looking to gain?

It would probably gain a schoch of torque and make servicing the HFH easier, but it was just a rabbithole I was crawling through. TBH on the search for torque I'd be better off getting a 1HD

If you look at the top pics, the fuel injectors are mounted to the inside of intake manifold.

Why do longer intake runners make more torque? More air velocity in the runner?

Could you list the part numbers for your modification?
