Price $14,500 obo. Importation docs included. It's also listed on Ebay right now.

Got starry-eyed and bought this 75 on ebay: (wrong thumbnail below, but if you follow the ebay link, it will take you to the correct listing)

I mean, what could possibly go wrong with an imported 1993 Landcruiser from Central America with 1,875,000 miles on it? Guy barely spoke english, so I casually translated everything he said into: DO IT, IT’S FINE. BUY IT, IT’S AWESOME. DO IT! BUY IT!

So I wired a total stranger 16k and spend almost 2k getting it to the east coast. That’s right, I’m 18K in and I’m not ashamed. I’ve done dumber s*** than this…

Of course he said it was perfect, and me being the trusting person I am… believed him. Once I got it here, I shipped it to a shop I use and this is what they said (also see video):

  • Engine is crooked in bay. Needs new mounts.
  • No heater
  • Engine is pouring oil out because freeze plug popped out. Engine does run.
  • Driveshafts are loose
  • Axle hubs need to be rebuilt. Rear axle seems fine.
  • Truck having trouble staying in 1st gear.
  • no windshield wipers (totally over rated anyway)
  • Gas tank leaking (was braised, but a totally s*** job)
Here’s the good:

  • Frame solid and rust free. See photos/videos.
  • Body is straight and in fantastic shape. There is bodywork. Also a few minor dings/scratches and whatnot. No biggie
  • Paint looks really good with a few blemishes here and there.
  • New wheels and tires are awesome
  • Crazy unique
  • Interior pretty good!
  • Replacement parts in the original listing seem to be accurate.
Shop is saying it's all repairable, but quotes to have this all done by a shop are too high for me to continue.

Keep it and fix when time allows. The 1fz is a great engine especially with a carb. The truck looks very similar to mine with the only difference being mine is lifted in the front/rear, not just the rear!🆒

Got a link to build thread, or just some photos?

No Sir, but your the second to ask in the last hour so I guess I need to take a few.

That rear axle is a Dana 60, they appear to be standard in the rear for some central/south American cruisers from what I read. Good axle.

Personally... I would invest the time into fixing the issues it has, then decide whether to keep or sell it. Maybe you'll fall in love with it but if not it will be worth more on the US market at that point.

Have decided to sell it. Will let it linger on Mud for a day or so before, I list on Ebay and bringatrailer and a few others. Received a few DM's but mostly bottom feeders trying to steal it.

If anyone is lurking in the shadows, now's the time to step forward...

Is a sick truck, just a bit more than I want to deal with. I can't change my own oil...

Whats price. Im pretty sure mods will require that vs open bidding war

Gotcha - I see I was vague about that before as I was undecided to sell or fix.. I'm trying to get out whole. This is what I have in:
  • Deposit of $500
  • 16k wire
  • 2k shipping/storage

I'm 18.5k in actually (I had forgotten that I sent a deposit as well).

I will let the project go for 17.5 - That's me eating about a grand + - a few dollars. If I list elsewhere, I'll most likely start higher so I can land at 18.5 or near about that.

You got a killer deal, then.

Passing it on to someone here on Mud if they want it. Project a little too large for what I can deal with right now... Not going to gouge anyone, just want to get out whole.

If you have someone do the work, you will find it easier to sell, but I cannot speculate whether you will recoup all of the costs. If you are not hard pressed for time, your list of repairs is not extensive, and once addressed, you could just let the listing stay for some time until you find the right buyer. I do not know about the transmission issue you describe and what that may cost, though. All others sound straightforward.

Price is 17.5k as per the title.

Open to trades as well. Trade must be a runner and not a project.

I've listed on ebay. Adjusted minimum price to 16,850.

If I had the cash I would buy it. You can’t really import one of these for that price unless it is completely beat down to a pile of old parts.

Cheers

hmm...

important question. will my dog fit in the passenger seat?

been looking for a 73/4 but this...

This looks like an amazing opportunity. However, folks south of the board are amazing craftsmen at putting anything besides metal behind the paint. Has a magnet test been done on this truck to determine if no filler was used during the repaint?
