It has plenty of room for my gear and family... and good ground clearance too...

LOL...

I really don't know why Murrieta PD would need this IED proof monster... but it was cool to see it. Reminded me of my time in Iraq with the Army...

Anyhow...

The guys at the shop have to take care of the PD first... so it will be a couple days until they get back to working on my LC...

Holy cow dude, are things THAT bad in Murietta these days? Dang.....

They have one like that in Asheville, NC too. We saw hundreds of them parked in Jacksonville, FL next to the cruise ship docks in Dec. The DOD has been giving them to police departments all over the country. Makes you wonder what they are gearing up for. My guess is that there are some very long strings attached to those "gifts".

So we figured out that the transmission that we purchased a while back was a 4X4 and not a 2WD like we need for the swap...
Now we're taking it apart to swap it with the correct one.

Surprises all the way to this point, but after this we think that things should go smoothly.

More updates in the next few days...

We are waiting on American Dismantling to find a low mileage 2wd transmission... :bang:

This sucks! Stuck until after this holiday... Hopefully we get it soon so we can get back to it...

I think in every single vortec swap thread in this forum it's mentioned that a 2wd trans is needed.

I got mine from bow auto salvage in NH off of eBay. It works perfectly. Just be aware of the transition year for the wiring harnesses and try to match it up by year model.

2004 will have the later style trans connector without the turbine speed sensor.

Thanks Jonathan... I knew it had to be a 2wd, apparently it was a misunderstanding on their part and they are willing to trade. The problem is that they didn't have one on stock last week.

I'm hoping for good news tomorrow!

RockRod isn't Jonathan, I am :). But yes I did help Mike out on that little hiccup. Once he gets your new trans I'm sure it will fly along!

Hahaha sorry... did not read the name correctly... my bad :/

Thank you again Jonathan!!! I owe you like a 30 pack by now... ;)

It seems that we are getting the transmission this Thursday... took long enough...

At least that gave us enough time to get the motor mounts built, get my radiator, and the new headers :)

I think we should have some progress by next week and be finished by the second or third week of February.

Well.... I finally bought a new transmission... is out of a 2005 Avalanche with 42k miles.

It is finally at the shop and now is ready to put it together...

I'm also getting the cat converters and 02 sensors to make it smog legal..

Looking good sir!!

The transmission is attached to the adapter and the adapter to the transfer case... it finally looks good and it is the proper fitment.

The guys at the shop are going to mount it and weld the new motor mounts.

We also have the radiator and headers ready for install... the radiator will require custom mounts that will be available for sale as a kit for 80 series LC's by Steel Nutz...

More to come soon ;)

Interesting placement of the 4L shifter base on that adapter.

Damn that's shiny!!

Really interesting project Bro. One Question; what are you running for a winch, I don't recognize it and am buying one for my current build.

Thanks, Will
