In the mean time I will be ordering some other parts that we're missing...
Is there a particular year or model for the Camaro oil pan that I should use?? :wrench:

Ok... so I contacted marks4wd and received some clarification about the mount kit they sent. I need to use FZJ80 mounts with mark's mounts... so I ordered some tonight for $48 on ebay... Well that is that! Let's see if they work :) Here is what it looked like: In the mean time I will be ordering some other parts that we're missing... Use any ls1 pan you'll need the pickup tube and windage tray. Curious, if you use Marks engine mounts will the hood close? Reason I ask is their mounts are built for a lower LS style intake vs the truck intake.

Mmmm... we'll see next week man... hope it closes.

Gents,

This is close to the setup that I'll running on my LC. The headers are made by Sanderson Racing and I'll have the information on the aluminum radiator dual fan combo by Monday.

Steel-Nutz will have them for sale at a special price for ih8mud members.

This is the same setup used on their racing vehicles.

I am attaching a couple of pictures of projects at the shop and the parts that I mentioned.

Notice the thickness of the headers... they look undestructible ;)

Those are super thick!! Let us know how they fit. I know on the Hooker Block Huggers a lot of guys had to ditch their front sway bar due to the fitment. Look killer!

Thanks Jonathan! They regularly use these on LS swaps and builds. According to Mike (owner of the shop) should fit fine ... anyhow, it will be a few days before we get to that point. I am excited

Why not Turbo or Supercharge it?
Onur told me there are people in the middle east getting 800hp with turbo. That should be enough power for you and keeping the rig more original.

I like the idea of a V8 more than a 6 cylinder turbo charged engine... I think this path will generate more HP and parts are more readily available (no offense to the purist). However, the cost would have been similar considering everything. I wouldn't have done it on the existing engine; I would have gotten a 1FZ to start with and that would have increased the cost even more...

So far I'm glad I went this route.

Carlos,

Looks like good progress. Keep up the posts. Thanks for the pics. That buggy supercharger in post #144 is getting dusty... ;)

Cheers,

Jon

sorry if I missed it but are you using the OEM radiator now?

No, I have been using a Genesis aluminum radiator, but I am upgrading to a radiator/dual fan combo instead of using the stock with a flex-a-lite dual fan.

I'll have the details on it in the next couple days.

What are you doing about the frame side of the mount? The FZJ80 mounts are in a totally different location.

Great thread and pictures, wow, things are coming along quite well on this.

Thanks musthave, I will try to get more as we move along... I am going on leave starting this weekend :)

I'll have some free time to go to the shop and get more details.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

This project will continue after the holidays... I ordered a bunch of parts and should be receiving them after Christmas...
