^ I sent you part but asked salilabbas to send the other longer part. I can't seem to locate it on my messages?

Bendcruiser, could you send it over to me as well? I'm due for a few updates and my LC deserves a little TLC. Thanks! -Luke

'Splain please. You mean the EFI relay wiring?

Its well documented on ih8mud just search for wiring harness and you'll get a better idea.

Basically it happens coz the EGR hose fries the wiring near it. If you live in a country where emissions isn't an issue and as long as you aren't a tree hugger you can disable the EGR system (de-smogging) and prevent that from happening.

The EGR disable technique is also well documented on the forum, even illustrated quite well.

Pretty sure that's exclusively a 1FZE issue.

Ding Ding. Curtis is correct again.
No wires run close to the EGR on a 3FE motor. The EGR melting a wire harness is on the 1FZ-FE motor.

However the EFI circuit wiring inside the fusebox can become problematic on a 3FE. Over time the combination of heat from the exhaust manifold and poor crimp connectors can cause issues. A solution is to replace some existing wires and terminals in the fusebox. There are many threads that document this.

Thanks guys....and all this time I was thinking the 3FE was in on the bad fortune.

Just the fuse box to fix then :)

I love my 3fe truck. Sure, it lacks top end power, but has decent grunt down low. I never hesitate to drive anywhere, even with 260k miles on the clock. Eventually I'll do a diesel swap, but until the engine dies, that'll be on the back burner.
Enjoy your truck and the new paint (great color!).

So I'm finally done with all the repairs and flipping. My LC is finally pic worthy and ive attached both before and after pics. Loving driving it! 3FE powah!

So I finally threw out the cats and replaced them with straight pipes and did an o2 sensor refresh as well...

....and the results are phenomenal!

Much more noticeable low end torque

Improvement in gas mileage by about 3-4 mpg and I feel she's running cooler too.

Next: EGR disable
Later: Smog pump removal

MUD has always been a lifesaver. I don't think any other forum even comes close to the level of assistance offered here voluntarily. Says alot about the great people that own these rides.

That looks great!!!! I used to have a 91. Then bought the 97LX. Sold the 91. Sad ever since. Wifey just gave the green light on the second cruiser. May be sportin' a 92 by the end of the week. 3FE!!!!!!

Disable the EGR and love for the 3fe keeps growing. Alot smoother and torqier today thanks to all the extensive guides from the MUD crew.

On to the smog pump removal now :)

Are there any other equivalents of the Gates belt? We dont get those kinda parts here...perhaps something in Denso?

The belt size for running without the smog pump is 22528. Any belt manufacturer will work, Denso, Gates, Dayco, etc.

22 is the width of the belt.
528 is the length of the belt.

I did a desmog, removing unness vacuum hoses, binned the air pump, replaced cats with a single hiflow cat, 2.5 inch exhaust from behind cat with straight truck muffler, replaced radiator with an alloy one and fitted a snorkel. Breaths and blows well. I am happy with the results. I change the oil and filter every 5000 km. engine has 360,000 km on it and keeps on keeping on. It is now more economical and pulls better with 33's than when i bought it with 31's. :-)
