There's a guy in my area that has a BJ75 "Dump Truck" for sale. Was this model imported by Toyota to Canada? or is it an ex-mining truck or grey import. Is the BJ75 is the troppy that I read about all the time in Australian 4WD monthly?

I'm assuming the "dump truck" part of it is custom, but I have seen one of these bad boys for sale in AB. Did they come as cab & chassis option like most trucks in OZ do.

He is asking a s*** load of loot for it, but it only has 107 km and looks spotless. :bounce:

WOW,

I guess "s***load" is all relative.

The guy is asking $19,800 and that is down from the original price of $22,000 I think.

These must be pretty rare.

only 75s that came into canada were the mine trucks or gray market, the 75 was not sold to the public.

yes they came in a cab and chasis, yes that dump bed is an aftermarket add on.

a 70 series Troopy(or troopie) is a 2 door fixed top van/wagon.

Wayne, I thought when yours went south of the border it was more like 27K cdn, I recall when it was for sale that the price seem very good.

Like I mentioned above, this is the 2nd one that I've seen with similar km's for around $20 grand. They are rare, but a "young grasshopper" can find anything.

I have read on the Off-road.com (http://www.off-road.com/tlc/body_styles/index.html) web site that these trucks are not allowed for sale to the general public as Landpimp mentioned.

How are these trucks licensed and certified for passenger vehicle use in Canada?

you are right, i got it back and added a turbo, PI, 45 box modified to fit the 75 frame, cage, cover, new tires, custom plywood storage bins and drawer pull out in the back, rear heaters...
now, i was tempted by the offer to say the least but after driving it to Pismo and back i turned down the offer without a second thought...
cheers

theycan't be...

So if some unsuspecting person buys this rig, it will be for offroad use only?

not necessarily, it might have been registered before the loop holes were locked up or it might be over 15 years old...

ah......I didn't know you got it back, thats great to hear :)

How many hours do you figure it takes to put on 107,000 in four low, second gear? I'll be looking at a fresh out of the mine HZJ75 next week that I'll strip for parts if I buy it and I'll guarantee it'll have half of those Kms and over 20,000 hours.

That one does look nice though.

Wayne's HZJ75 (before it was Wayne's) was the best of four that went through the auction when it came out if the mine. It only had about 2500 hours. I had cash in hand to buy it and got tied up on the job and arrived at the auction just in time to see it drive off the block for a third of what its worth now.

I posted this sometime last year - same truck. I thought it was for sale for ~C$13K last year - this is likely a re-seller. I've seen a fair number of the mine trucks up north and never noticed a 70 series.

Cheers, Hugh

Was it in the Toronto area?

The guy says he has put in some money into it recently. To the tune of $22K. You know how those numbers get embelished.

Looks like he's having trouble selling it. There is no market for that truck in Southern Ontario. If you need a utility truck, but a GM for less than half the price and age. Anyone will work on it and parts are peanuts.

If you want a good offroader you probably don't need a hydraulic bed.

But, if it isi the same truck, maybe the price can be brought down to the original purchase price (or lower :) )
