It’s always something right? You either get
@SNLC to rip the bandaid off and build you a better than new cruiser, or you slowly slowly pull the Bandaid off and fix every problem as it comes at you.
I can tell you if I had money which path I would choose.
Last couple trips, no leaks on the h55f so who really knows.
However:
Rusty residue in the overflow tank.
However coolant is clean looking, even in the overflow.
It’s not oily and only smells like coolant so from everything I’ve understood it’s just rust from the coolant system. Not sure if a deposit just fell off or what?
The first order would be to flush the coolant and replace. I’m not sure the easiest way to flush a 70 series, but I do hate filling coolant in it. I’ll get a coolant burper.
In normal 70 series owner news, I stopped to grab a sandwich at lunch.
Counter kid: man that is such a cool Jeep.
Me: thanks it’s a Toyota Land Cruiser
Counter kids coworker: slaps counter kid and says Bro! While laughing
Counter kid: sheepishly says: sorry it’s cool.
Counter kid: I bet it’s a lot work since it’s old
Me: nah it’s not a jeep
Counter kids coworker: laughs again loudly
Counter kid:
Next anecdote:
Pulled next door to the sandwich shop at the car wash to vacuum. Guy came right over and just stared like a kid in a candy store no words just looking in the window at me
After what seemed like 5 minutes, i put the vacuum down and said hi. He was pretty cool and loved the cruiser. Wanted to get one to tow an RV Becuase they are diesel. After laughing a little to myself, we chatted some more about rigs and such.
He offered to help with the body work, he’s retired and enjoys it. He handed me a business card.
Now maybe it’s just me, but that slogan “maybe we can do it” is not confidence inspiring.
He actually asked if he could take a video for his son. So I’m a movie star again…
