80 series=Welcome to the 1980's.

:)

Oh, and leather seats and locking axles.

:)

I am already accustomed to the feel of leather..... My HJ75 has "vinyl" seats ( vinyl is similar to leather in the same way a single wide mobile home is similar to a mansion. ):)
My 4 Runner has "Naugahyde" which is made from cows that died of natural causes.
( like old age )
I believe NASA used the same material to cover the seats in the Space Shuttles.
It is not affected by gravity. :)

actually, MacD does the cooking, she just knows how to eat ...
for the length of time you own a vehicle, if comparing to the ladies in the pic, you might as well take the Russian. :hhmm:
you will just trade her in for something else, in about a year.
:lol::lol:

if you have some spare time, give this a read ... good for a laugh:

According to my Grandfather ( a very wise man ) you would choose the one on the right. She will keep you warm in the Winter, provide shade in the Summer and obviously she knows how to cook. :D

I travel throughout Europe on a weekly basis .... I see the difference firsthand. :)
...."you will just trade her in for something else in about a year" ...... You are probably correct. :D

1FZFE .... Slightly less efficient than the diesel. :D

It's sad to hear that. If it is HDJ80 u can mate its engine into ur 75 so u will own HDJ75:p!

Hello,

At least you got a 1FZ-FE engine. I've seen 80 Series with the 1FZ-F carbureted engine. Heavy and very thirsty.

Fuel issues aside, congrats on your new truck.

Juan

EDIT: The advise on a big woman is Russian. Are you of Russian descent? Just curious.

The 1FZ-FE averaged 15.2 mpg on the 665 mile trip home but fortunately gas is cheap.
** I am of Scottish descent ** .... Most likely drunks and thieves were my ancestors. :D

Hello,

Your mileage is decent.

Easy on the gas pedal does it with the 1FZ-FE. Otherwise it is a thirsty beast.

Cheap gas aside (and appealing to the Scottish in you,) the money you manage to save with the 75 will help you with the 80's gas bill. :D

I usually drive at speeds my grandmother would have considered conservative. :)
I just hope the 80 Series is as reliable as the ole 75 Series.

End of day photo ..... All is well in Cruiserville. :)

Except from late May through August. :D
Even the bugs try to stay in the shade...:)

Hello,

So if bugs are in the shade then it is ice-cold beer time...

You may be on to something there. :)
I wonder how ice the rear bed would hold? :D

I took the ole HJ75 out for a spin this afternoon and got home just in time for my "end of the weekend" photo. :)

Hello,

Back in the tropics, there were days so hot even the bugs looked not only for a shade but also a cold drink. There was this guy, Segundo, a hard-working hand, who would finish his job to look for a shade, along with ice water to cool down.

There would be few people left in the yard after he looked for cover. If he cannot hold it, no one else can, or so they thought. He was a heat meter of sorts.

By the end of the day, it was time to drive downtown for some ice-cold beer. It felt just great.

I remember the station doctor went to great lengths to convince us that, from a physiological standpoint, cold beer does nothing to alleviate the heat; such lectures were common during meals on those hot days and we listened respectfully.

I also remember the Daihatsus/Hinos' diesel engines handling those high-temperature days well, except when radiators were leaky.

Have you considered a cooler/fridge for your 75?

Juan

A HJ75 Ute just doesn't have room for aftermarket do-dads. :)
You would be better served adding a fridge to a 80 Series.

some 80s come with ice makers in the console ... pretty cool. and they seem to fit a 6 pack of Pepsi quite well.

Coke is a product of my home State .... Against State law to drink Pepsi. :D
The State also approves of beer as long as you don't drink to much and run over farm animals.

Waeco make an 11 litre fridge ,the smallest in the world . Ive heard it works quite well. I was thinking of selling my 50 litre waeco and getting an 11 litre up front and leave the 80 litre in the back of the troopy:D.
It would be great if you could get it to fit between 2 single seats
