1984 FJ60 stock, in MT now $2800/strong offer

This is a feeler...want to sell this but I paid $2000 for it...so the bottom line is very close to this number...

I have too many pieces of iron in the fire. I now own 4 vehicles and need to downsize.

I got this last summer with the intention of building it up. It was mainly a hunting rig for the previous owner, and as such, was not driven alot real regularly. It has around $9000 or so in documented auto shop reciepts from the last 5 or so years...that being said it still needs a few things.
Just under 170,000 miles on the chassis, less on JDM engine. I have driven this FJ60 less than 2000 miles in the last year.

for a regular daily driver it needs:
-rebuilt (correctly) carb, or new Aisin, or weber
-desmog
-oil leaks addressed. Probably the oil pan, side cover, dunno possibly rear main.
-P/S pump leaks some fluid

It is a 4 speed, shifts great, 4WD/transfer all works great. All guages work. Has a JDM replacement engine from a few years ago, but it probably needs some minor tune ups such as a few gaskets, plugs/cap/rotor/wires, and probably a valve adjustment.

I took the wheels and tires for my '95 Tacoma, so it would need rims with the proper backspacing. As it sits on the '95 roller rims, I DO NOT think that they clear the brakes, so test drives would have to be done with some other wheels. Paint is original, and clear coat is peeling in spots, also some fading and very minimal surface rust starting to appear on the top of the roof.

Has a tear in the driver's side seat, and rusting of the drivers rear quarter panel at the bottom next to the exhaust. Frame rust and rust underneath seems to be surface rust an minimal. Not a 10 (out of 10), but also not a 5. Probably the rust (10 being no rust), is likely a 6 or 7 with the rear quarter factored in compared to other FJ60's I have seen in this price range.

Has Chilton manual, AND the 2F FSM, chassis FSM, electral supplemental FSM...every manual you would need for a ground-up, frame off restore.

Would consider cash + partial trades for a 14' john boat, guns (7mm mag, 30-06, .357 or .44/.45 revolver), possibly other Toyota stuff but like I said I am trying to do some downsizing.:D

who wants to buy this tank for their high school kid???

low insurance price, and as a bonus, there isn't really enough power in the tractor 2F to even slightly worry about being pulled over for speeding!

swampgas- PM replied...

I am becoming really quite surprised at the fact that I have had no interested buyers or serious offers on this yet...

Thanks for the reply kayak. When the weather cooperates, close ups of the bad rust and underneath/frame shots would be helpful. Also, pics of interior.

Would you mind posting a shot of the interior?

I had one of these as my high school rig. Drove her 55 and pissed a lot of people off. Great High School Car.

P.S. If I wasn't a broke senior in High School, I'd definitely be over there looking to put my FJ60's axels, tranny and t-case in it. Don't Part out your Cruiser. It's in too good of shape for that. Have you tried craigslist? I'd imagine with winter bringing the slick roads that some skier would be looking for a four wheel drive. Good luck with your sell!

If it makes you feel any better,
I'd be pushing my '98 pathfinder on you as a trade if I had the money to pay for gas for the thirsty 2F ;)
Always wanted to see a second 60 in our driveway
Best of luck!

This rig is still for sale!

I live about 135 miles from my FJ60, and can post up interior pics and undercarriage pics in a week or two.

Both have been previously described.

Undercarriage has surface rust, and minor. A wire wheel and Rustoleum will take care of it. The interior has a tear on the side of the driver's seat like all of them have, and the dashboard has a few cracks in it. The carpet has a few stains but the seats do not have any stains. Everything in the interior is complete and in good or better than good shape.

In case it has not been clarified: THIS 60 NEEDS A CARB. I would NOT suggest driving it as far as LA or CO on anything but a trailer...unless you bring a carb it probably will not drive that far unless you are really adventureous and MacGuyver-ish.

PLEASE BUY ME!
MY MOM NO LONGER LIKES HER TEMPORARY LAWN ORNAMENT! (ALTHOUGH i LOVE IT!)

Still For Sale!

I will get interior photos and undercariage photos and post them in the coming three days.

So are you in Townsend or Big Sky?

I am fairly busy with work and haven't been on the board much lately. I may be interested in taking a look. I am in Bozeman twice a week. Are you mostly in Townsend or Big Sky?

Okay.

This FJ60 is still for sale, and my winter job in Big Sky is over so I will be posting lots of photos of the interior, rusted quarter panel, and engine bay soon (hopefully tommorrow).

Also i will be brushing and painting the surface rust on the axels and frame, with before and after pics, if the weather is good tommorrow (it snowed last night).

I am surprised that there has not been a buyer off of the MUD board, and have not posted on Craigs List because of all of the hoss-sheet I had to go through while I was trying to sell my '77 FJ40 a few years ago. Not interested in tire-kickers or lowballers.
From a Craigslist ad, someone offered me $500 (over the phone) for my 40 when I was asking $3000...

Interested parties with trades graciously recieved.

Trading me something will get you a better price than a lowball bid that will just frustrate me. All I am trying to do is get (most) of the money I have into this project back so I can lift my '95 Tacoma.

EVERYTHING I know about the 60 has already been posted in this thread.
