it takes a while bumping the engine to get all the valves open.

I followed advice from I forget who on this forum. Park the rig on smooth flat surface and put it in third or fourth gear with no e-brake. This way you can easilly push the rig back or forth to get your target cylinder at TDC.

Sweet truck!

bedliner quarters

Finnaly back at it. life can throw curves at you. i got around to putting on bedliner on the quarters finnaly. i used gator guard II, its a two part epoxy, mixed it for 10 minutes, let is stand for ten minutes stirred put in paint tray and applied with a 4 inch roller. body prep was wash with soap, scuff with green 3m pad, wash with soap wipe off any stuff with acetone and then a tack cloth. let all dry, taped the body contour and then rolled it on. it was simple and i think it turned out well. we shall see how it holds up. the stuff is super sticky and sticks like super glue so i am encouraged. i think it turned out well, now just got to get the rest of the body a solid color and it might actually look half decent.

That is a damn fine looking truck. I can't wait to buy a welder so I can start doing exactly what you've done.

thanks...i try and do a good job. welder is key...gives you freedom to kind of do what you want.

time and a little paint

well got tired of the 5 color pallet of the truck and got bored and decided to atleast make it one color on the outside atleast above the bedlined areas. masking is a pain in the ***, but for a DYI outside job from a distance it looks okay. not trying to make a show stopper, just atleast some continuity. works for what i need.

man-a-fre trans/transfer kit

My manafre trans/trnsfer case hose kit came in to bandaid my seal issues between the two. the kit is complete ans easy to install. took less than 15 minutes. a little wd40 on the fittingd s and the hose makes quick work of mating the two. i wish all things were this simple to do. all you need is a 22mm wrench. i did find while i was down there a broken transmission mount....now in the pick i know there is oil everywhere i have seal leaks all over the place but i am not interested at this point in dismantling my drive line to fix them.

starter rebuild

had a intermittant starter problem. so i took the starter apart and switched the contacts that got me through until the new contacts and plunger kit came in. the rebuild takes about 45 minutes. you need a 17mm wrench for the starter mounting bolts one on top and one on the bottom, a phillips head screw driver, a 13mm wrench for the nut that holds on the battery cable, and a 14 mm wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the contact nuts down....order toyota parts from the dealer cost about $60.00 for the contacts each side is different and casts about 16.00 and the plunger is like 25.00.

here are the parts
