Been following this thread from the beginning and Shane you are the master... I'm restoring an 81 myself and although it will never look close to what you have accomplished, I'm hoping I can pick your brain and photo album from time to time. You know Boise is only a short 7 hours from you hahaha. Hell at some point I might have to pay you a consulting fee and get you to Boise for a couple of days. Thanks for sharing your work Shane. Makes us all green......

Thanks man!

I would love to get to Boise as I need to stop in Meridian this summer and need to do some rabbit extermination.

We are all green at some point, I have a Corona that I need to go over to Toyota Owners Restores Club
and get schooled.

Which reminds me I need to mail out a stereo head unit for that...F&^k I keep forgetting.

Any idea when you are coming through? I'll buy you a beer and show you the vain of my existence for the last month and a half. Actually more like for the next 3 years minimum haha

Jump seats are a ***** to assemble after powder coating (sprung legs) You will need to use a adjustable wrench to bend out the female in and bend in the male end and I mean slightly do this. The powder is so thick the leg will not fit or more if not adjusted.

WTF are the footman loops for on the 8/80 and up seats for????

Where did you get the powder for those seats? Is that the original color match?

Greetings,

I take them to my local PC and have them done. It's as close as I could find.

Thanks for looking.

Shane

Shane-

You talk with this owner recently?

Someone was saying that a really clean late-modle 40 series tipped over up on the Range in Northern MN a few weeks back... :crybaby:

Hope all is well bud.

Hi Shane, digging up an oldish thread i know, but wow, this build is my kind of cruiser porn. :)
I love the attention to detail everywhere. I might use that nylon-washer and Vaseline trick when I'm working on my cruiser sometime down the track. I sincerely hope the new owner appreciates the work gone into it, but i also hope it gets driven and not tucked away in a garage somewhere!

I'll aspire to restore my 79 BJ40 to something like this....one day.

Same for me Shane, the pictures are a guiding light for my little faux resto. Can you re-post them or email them to me, please?

Hi shane!

I am very impressed with your restoration very very very good job!!! I took all my nuts and bolts off and put in a bucket, then sent to "portland plating" to have re zinced. It looks like you have a good yellow zinc hook-up.... I have a friend who does powder coating. I had him do all of my parts high gloss black. I wish i new anyone that could zinc. Anyway wow!! good job..

Thanks!

I have used them all here in Portland, and found TFC plating is honest and beyond fair. Yellow Chromate and clear zinc are the two on a 40.

I powder all resto parts in BK08 which is a matte black.
