Hello!

Allready send some pics and info to registry thread. But here is my project thread.
Bought an old fire truck in january. After along day to get it home started planning what to do with it. It has some rust as all of these, but only 100 000km and original interior in decent shape. Body panels are also reasonably straight and only minor rust. The plan is to fix most of the rust and new two tone red/white paint.
Have been welding and grinding the car now for a few weeks. Still a lot to do, but starting to look better.
Technically it should be in ok condition. Will se about that when get it driveable. The radiator was leaking but thats fixed.
Some pics here.

Sweet Pig!!! Would love to have the ambi doors on mine!! Had a 75 fj40 that I sold years ago when the kids were little.an I wish I never sold it!! Good luck with the build!!

Very nice! A 1980 Pig with ambi doors and PTO winch - cool!
I see the front seatbelts fix to the upper "B" pillar.

These should be original seat belts. Haven't check the upper fix, but on floor they look original.

Worst part of the car is passenger side floor and body mounts. Got allready new parts Welded. Driver side is still to be done.

not as seen in the prior incarntions...they were in the top rail...

that is a real collector item there...interior is immaculate. shining example of the last production year...

Nice pig. Do you have a month and chassis number? Don't think many pigs where made in 1980.

First registration in Finland is 07.07.1980. There's no manufacture date in car, but vin is FJ5500900084.

Holy cow! Looks like you know what you are doing! Either that or you just aren't afraid...
It's easy to take it in parts, but we'll see when is it going to ready..

Some new metal for front fenders.

That is a late pig. Second youngest. Do you have any history on the car? Was it always in Finland?

It's been at Tammela fire department propably as a crew transporte. It was in service until feb 2000 and three owners since that. It has been standing in carage most of the time since 2000. I bought it from a car/chopper builder who had too many projects. He had a nice 1940 something Ford firetruck.
Technically it looks good. Bought new shocks for it and when took the old away (original Toyota's, so they might be the originals from 1980), they all vere in pretty good shape. Just rusty outside.

There's no man.date in vin plate:

Drivers side needs some care too.

Based on your plate. It is a factory freeborn red. Interesting most of the later pigs I've seen are two tone. I assume as this is a LV spec it has discs at the front and power steering? Doesn't look like it is an AC car but then why would you need it in Finland. I think it would look nice in two tone. Very few pigs was made in July 1980. I would of been a few car lengths behind you. So Cool

This one is very basic model. No power steering, drums in all four corners and really no AC. Due to taxes and high car prices in 1970's cars in Finland were very basic.
