What a great thread! I am new to the FJ40 world, only have had my truck about a month. I am mainly trying to stop the rust with POR paint for now on what I can reach on the chassis. I bought a Eastwood welder and am hopping to learn how to use it. Keep posting pics if you can, I am saving everyone as reference material. I too have to replace the rear sil, can this be done with the body on the frame? Thanks for taking the time to post your thread. I have learned quite a bit from reading it and studying your pictures.

Harry got his body painted and put back on the frame!

You’d have to at least cut out the bottom portion of your quarter panels to get it in.

Is it just one side? without seeing it in person and I know your uncle is a smart guy, the only obvious thing to me is full the bolt(s) - screw(s) and move it forward. It needs to line up with the vertical door seat.

Measure, measure, measure. Then measure again.

4 and a half months and nothing? Aaron? What's the deal?

Sadly, I worked for Ralphie May, who just passed away earlier this month. Along with losing my mentor and best friend, I lost my job and health insurance for myself and my 4-month old. It's been a devastating blow. It's also one of the reasons I started this thread. Being unemployed gives me the opportunity to go back and track down photos and tell a 5 year old story.

Ralphie was the best boss and friend I could ever have. He changed my life in so many ways. He loved getting updates from me on what I was doing to my FJ40. He always said "Man s***." when I sent him a picture.

Ah man, you worked for Ralphie May. That's so cool! Loved that guy.

I just watched a vintage YouTube segment where Ralphie roasted Cheech & Chong but Tom Arnold took the brunt of Ralphie's magic. Never laughed so hard.

Best of luck on your project and an upward turn on your employment/insurance situation.
