1976 Rustic Green FJ40 frame off restoration with rebuilt engine and original drive train including several upgrades.
The FJ40 was resorted for over 18 months by a retired car enthusiast who has restored serval vintage vehicles.
The project was a frame-off restoration with a previously rebuilt original 2F 4.2L inline 6-cylinder engine. The rebuilt engine was torn down to inspect and received new rings. A machine shop went through cylinder head. Other components rebuilt include the transmission, transfer case, axels and wheel hubs.
The FJ40 has AFI Fuel Injection, a new clutch with resurfaced flywheel and new master and slave cylinder. Mini Truck power steering with JT Outfitters conversion kit. The engine is de-smogged.
The frame was wire wheeled and sandblasted and painted black semi gloss rust resistant paint. The suspension is original including front and rear leaf springs with new Monroe shocks front and rear. The ball joints and rubber bushings were replaced. The truck has factory 15” steel wheels with hubcaps and Douglas 215/70R15 Radial tires manufactured by Goodyear.
Engine has new water pump, starter, alternator, 3 row aluminum radiator AFI Fuel injection system with electric distributor. Power Steering conversion installed using Toyota Mini Truck power steering. Upgrades also include Vintage Air A/C and heat system, all new wiring, rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes with new master cylinder, brake booster and flex hoses. The stopping power is excellent.
Body work includes a new set of body mounts, new front fenders, new rear quarters, new outer door seals, door bottoms, drivers side floor and new roof gutter.
You will stay cool and comfortable or warm and cozy in the cabin with new Vintage Air Generation IV A/C and heat system. Interior has cloth covered front bucket seats, new bluetooth AM/FM/CD with four discreetly mounted speakers, new FJ40 dash cover, new rubber seals for windows. The headliner was removed and overhead surface painted black.
The paint and body work took several months. Any rust was cut out and replaced with metal. The undercarriage has been completely cleaned, sprayed with Raptor liner and looks as good as the top does. The body received new paint using PPG base coat clear coat on Rustic Green.
All controls, lights, wipers, washers, horn, radio, A/C, heat function as they should.
