Surprised you didn't go 37s

shorter overall ratio with the 4.88s and 35s than the 4.10s and 33s. Still has the original F engine. Maybe if I put a 1fz-fe and a 5-speed in it.

37's easy

the FJ62 on the locked FZJ80 chassis with the turbo 1FZ-FE engine (you can see a taillight in one of the pics) has 37s on it. I may put different wheels/tires on the FJ62 project in the fullness of time and run the wheels / tires on there on the pig. But I think the pig is already slightly taller. It's 0.5" shorter to the drip rail, but I think the roof has no crown. Neither is going to fit in a non-custom garage now.

But at least it's not running down the road on tires from 2008 now, and it's locked, and it has a bit more track width, and the rear brakes are larger. (I moved the TLC / SSBC "super calipers" to the now fj62 front axle, but kept the FJ62 drums on the rear.)

Open question: blown 1fz-fe and 5-speed in the pig, or leave the 1.5F engine and 4 speed? Only real reason to go with the 1FZ-FE is fuel injection, 'cause when I get this pig (back) to Colorado, maybe @fj55tlc will let me tag along on some of his trail runs, and 11,000 feet .vs 6600 feet isn't so much fun with a carb. Could just go Sniper, too, but ... same money..

@4x4labs confirmed that my bumper order for the pig is in the queue today.

You can tag along, for sure. More like 13,000 feet at times. I never had an issue with the 1.5f and the carburator. Just need to jet it right.

Thanks Craig. My concern is more daily driving between 5000-7000 feet, but then taking it another 7,000 feet up. My understanding of these Weber 32/36 carbs is that a given jet size is good for +/- 1500 feet. IDK, maybe it’s not a problem. Will have to try to it to find out.

anti-wrap bar is installed. Had to remove the glass pac muffler that @Cruiser Innovations installed, but it was loud and I’m a bit old for that anymore. Plan is to replace with a turbo muffler so it’s not so loud and taking the tail pipe out from under the cruiser and dumping to the driver side behind the rear tire.

Thats the straightest shot and will hopefully keep the exhaust fumes out of the cab (with the dump under the body (before the rear axle), the pig is a little ... gassy in the cab, even when i didn’t have Mexican the night before.)

That should happen next week, right now i have to drive 1,000 miles each way for a home inspection. Covid makes everything more difficult.

Addressing the cracks in the body and broken welds in the window frames.

The driver side had some pretty bad rust so the weld got bigger, you can see how much before finally hit good metal. Puu'a is scheduled to get the exhaust extended and a new, quieter muffler on Monday.

Gonna hit the welds with grey spray can primer for now. The rest of the paint job is a spray can job by @Cruiser Innovations from 2012, so...

Once I get the @bobm rear floorpans and rockers installed, I'll tackle a paint job (though the move to CO is going to interfere with that, as I don't have a shop there, and it's c-o-l-d in Colorado during the winter.)

Luke at @4x4labs tells me that I'm in the queue somewhere for front and rear bumpers.

Still need to fix the rear window, and replace the regulators in the two front doors, too.

Oh, and the heater doesn't work, which makes driving in the winter in CO less fun. Likely the missing blower resistor(s), and maybe a bad switch, but the resistors are definitely MIA. And I need to get keys cut for the door and rear window cylinders. And install the rebuilt door hinges, and...

yeah, and I might yet put the bead-locked Enki 17s with some 37s on this truck, and put the 35s on the fj40.

Back at work. It’s a really nice ride for what it is. Quieter now, (exhaust, fewer rattles), sits real high, but tracks really well. The sliders make getting in and out easier, too.

Needs a state inspection and registration renewal.
