*****UPDATE - This has been sold 9/27/11 *****

Up for sale is my favorite vehicle - EVER! I built it personally over the past 3 years, and have had a ton of fun with it.

Here's the details:

1974 FJ40 - painted in Voodoo Blue (matches the 2007 FJ Cruiser) with PPG 2 stage paint. 4 coats of clear.
The interior and underside have been roll-lined with Herculiner. This is so much more cost effective than a Rhino or Line-X, as you can repair it and re-coat it at anytime for less than $50 if you ever need to - this adds a great amount of sound deadening too.

2F Inline 6 - I replaced the original 6 cylinder with a newer 2F - recently replaced the headgasket in July and runs great!
Stock Toyota Carb, newer FJ60 electronic ignition - starts up EVERY time.
6 into 1 exhaust header, full bent exhaust built by Bud's Muffler in Denver - new last year. Nice exhaust tone, not loud and obnoxious.
Toyota 4-speed H42 transmission recently gone thru and all seals and bearings replaced by Safari Ltd in Grand Junction - shifts perfectly.
3-speed, 1-piece case with lower, low range gearing installed by Safari Ltd as well - this is a great improvement for rock crawling...keeping the stock gearing for highway and in-town driving.
This motor, transmission and transfercase are all leak-free!

It has a 2.5" Old Man Emu suspension lift, with fully greasable, extended shackles - and is great off-roading.

It has a fully removable BestTop Soft top, with BestTop soft doors. (there is a small tear in the top of the top but isn't a huge distraction)

The interior is fully custom, the front seats came from a 2006 Toyota Highlander, driver seat is full power with electronically adjustable lumbar support.
The rear seats are fold-and-tumble from 4Wheel Parts, made by Rampage. They're split in the middle and can fold individually for loading up bigger things in the back.
The seatbelts are 1 year old, also from 4Wheel Parts - they're a factory replacement and are a nice improvement - all 4 seats are shoulder, 3-point belts.
The stock FJ40 rollbar is installed, with original protection pads still included.

There is a custom dash-box, replacement for the always worn-out dashpad...this is lockable and is a ton of storage, which most FJ40's don't have!

The 33" BFG Mud Terrains are new, with less than 7k miles on them, set of 5 including the spare all match on false-beadlock gloss black steel 15" rims.

This has been a great FJ40 for us, but we're having to sell due to it being a little too small for our growing family of off-roaders and campers :) We've taken it all over Colorado and a few trips to Moab - and has performed flawlessly. It's been a fun member of the family and has provided us with a ton of great memories, but its time to move on to other Land Cruisers that are in our plans.

The Superwinch is not included in the sale, however the custom winch bumper will go with the truck.

I have numerous photos I can email you if you're looking to see something specific. Price is negotiable with cash in hand. Clear title in-hand free of any liens.

Please contact Jeff at 720-320-8207 for more details, and to come take a look at it.

My build-up was somewhat documented here on 'Mud. Here's the link:

I'll post up some photos as soon as I can.

Thanks for lookin-

One important thing I forgot to mention....

I swapped both axles out of a 76' FJ40 to gain the front disc brakes on. The entire axles were swapped....diffs and all.

The rear axle still has the drums - which are working great.

Thanks for your interest-

Jeff

Jeff thats an awesome 40 and the perfect color. I'll be looking for another 40 in the future, but not quite yet.

Good luck with the sale!

Ken

Hey Jeff,

I'm totally interested! Just out of curiosity, what, "larger cruiser" are you looking to get your family into after selling this? And, any interest in a partial trade (96 80 series, no lockers 145k on it) plus some cash for your 40? Or, do you have any interest in a 40 project as partial trade? I only ask there, because I have a couple in process, and would need to unload one if I bought this. Maybe you could finish, flip, and make an extra buck on it as well. Who knows.
Anyway, hit me up on e-mail with more details. I don't work at PI any longer, but my yahoo account is the same. Or Shane could even put you into contact with me if need be.
thanks,
Abe

Hey guys-

Thanks so much for the interest and best wishes-

The 40 sold today to a guy from Colorado Springs.

Thanks,

Jeff

Well, I guess he didn't buy it for his high-school kid after-all. Who knows.

Guess it goes to show you how much 4 years of your life building a truck is worth. Hope it stays in Colorado, and goes to a Mud Member!

Hope the new owner really likes it!

Thats crazy! I've been eyeballing that truck on ebay for a couple of days. I am too far away, but its a beauty. I am sure seeing it on there isnt the best of sights for you after all your hard work.

Easy solution: become a hoarder like me. :grinpimp: (I'm a parts hoarder though, only 2 actual cruisers in MY stash... ;) )

I sold it for what I thought it was worth - accurately describing the truck - discussed its flaws and its positive points.

If I had honestly thought it was worth $13.5K I would have advertised it as such.

Just goes to show you what eBay does to the pricing of things - just jacks it up higher and higher - sometimes beyond what is reasonable.

I'm pleased for the buyer - and the seller.

I guess the rule still stands - the guy with the $$ makes the rules - and the one who wants the $ follows the rules.

It funded my small business - and that's all that matters now.

Ya live and learn too :)
