Well it is official. I am putting my 2+ year project up for sale....

I love this 55, but I would like to see it go to a home that will be able to use it. First some history:

I started looking for a 55 about 5 years ago; in 2004 I found a nice early model that was virtually rust free. The only rust was in the front fenders. I bought it completely stock and drove it with the "F" engine for 6 months. Then the bug hit me, I wanted to make it a little more capable. So I started researching, I spent hours on Mud and Pirate and formulated my plan. I loved the V8 in my 100 series, so it was a must. The transmission was chosen, because it was the latest model year that would work with the stand alone TCU. I picked the fulltime transfercase from an 80 series and front and rear 80 series factory e-locked axles that were rebuilt and re-geared to 4.88. From there it was just how to make everything fit and work. I engineered the front 3 link, and built everything with top of the line components (heat treated 4130 links, Johnny joints, 2.5" Fox shocks, 2" Fox Nitrogen bumpstops)

The body was stripped down and the floors were all rust bulleted. My wife and I painted the truck with single stage enamel auto paint in spray cans (This was done, so that it could be touched up after it was scratched) The interior, wheel wells, and lower part of the exterior was line-x'd.

There is so much to list with this truck, but I have lots of photos of the progression. So on to the bad, the truck is not finished. It is probably 90% complete. I have all of the parts to finish, but I just don't have the motivation to continue.

So on to the photos:

These are not the most recent photos. I will go down to the shop Tuesday and get photos as it sits today.

The truck is in Fredericksburg, VA and I am asking $19,000.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Ryan.

not sure why I am looking but......

Ryan,

I am trying to convince myself to get rid of a couple cruisers I have and make space. Now I am thinking more seriously then ever cause I realy like your project. I have been following the build here and there. I wanted to do the same with my 45 wagon, but not to the extent you have due to lack of mechanical skills.

I will put some more though into my decision for sure. I am hesitant getting rid of the wagon, but my 40 is replacable. Not to mention, the space in the 40 simply doesn't work for me and my three little dudes.

Could you shoot me a pm with your number so I can talk to you further.

I should delete this before hitting submit....but I have a cruiser problem like most on this board!

Thanks!

Just returned from Chicago with some buds for a dinner outing. All I was thinking about is cruiser issues.
Sad but true.

Once the smurf sells, I can offer you $12k for it. Best I can do. I'm trying to get my rich friends to buy it so I can at least be close to it. :D

Questions of the day?

- Recover the rear seat - I have the material
Do you have the same material as the front seats or is it more like the original material?

- Have new door panels and cargo panels made - I have the material
Original style or brown like front seats?

- finish wiring up the electric lockers switches front and rear
Is this a tough job or can an rookie do it?

- Plumb and charge the A/C unit
Do you have the parts to complete? Can this be done prior to purchase by Ironpig's Crew?

- Check all the wiring for the lights/turn signals
Can this be done prior to purchase by Ironpig's Crew?

- Install seatbelts
Original or Aftermarket type?

Ryan, this may save you a phone call, or at the least, cut down my question list.

By the way,
If I were to fly in, what airport is the closest?

** It is the exact same material as the front seats. It was ordered from the company the same time I bought the seats.

- Have new door panels and cargo panels made - I have the material
Original style or brown like front seats?
** The material for the door panels is the same as the material from the front seats as well.

- finish wiring up the electric lockers switches front and rear
Is this a tough job or can an rookie do it?
** Lance (owner of Ironpig) says that is is a pretty easy job, I just didn't have the time, or desire to have them do it.

- Plumb and charge the A/C unit
Do you have the parts to complete? Can this be done prior to purchase by Ironpig's Crew?
** I have all of the pieces, except for the lines. The lines would have to be custom made, by an A/C shop. Ironpig doesn't have the ability to do A/C.

- Check all the wiring for the lights/turn signals
Can this be done prior to purchase by Ironpig's Crew?
** This could be done, but I would refer you to Lance after the purchase. I have asked them to stop working on the truck, since my life has changed.

- Install seatbelts
Original or Aftermarket type?
** They are aftermarket seatbelts that Lance has used in many 55's.

Ryan, this may save you a phone call, or at the least, cut down my question list.

By the way,
If I were to fly in, what airport is the closest?
** The closest airport is probably DC, but I wouldn't trust the truck to drive a long distance, since it hasn't been on a really long shake down run. It is great to drive around, but if it was me I would do many short shake down runs before I trusted any truck to drive any long distance.

** Hopefully that helps.
Ryan.

Ryan,
Thanks for the feedback. I am still interested in the truck. I'd like to talk when you have some time.
Hope all is well.

I am interested too, but Ryan has to reply to my PM :)

Ryan,
Let's talk again about payment details and how long I have before I need to run down and pick up the 55. Thanks agian for the call time yesterday eve. I look forward to seeing the truck and your work. And rest assured that I will finish the project just as you would have wanted it done!
Drop me a ring when you can,
All the best,
Eric

Eric,

It was great to speak with you. I really do think that you are getting a very nice truck for the money. This 55 is the most solid 55 the guys at Ironpig said they have seen. I will give you a call later today.

Ryan.

If that deal falls through let me know. I have financing for the truck all lined up.
