I bought this beautiful, I thought, Landcruiser. It had a Ford courier bed… Bring a trailer.com. It got bid up to 18,000 back in September and I won it this year for 25. More than I wanted to spend but I was happy. I happen to have a 1965 short wheelbase bed so I thought no problem. We have a problem Houston. Not sure where to go from here.

some talk in there the removable vs. fixed top beds are different so no not all the same

Then with that one being a mix of parts probably equals up to it not fitting

Thats my old truck! ( green goblin) that rear frame sure looks like an fj55 frame? Measure the wheelbase( should be 104”. Maybe Andy can enlighten you? I think it might be pieced together?

Totally pieced together which I don’t mind, but I really wanted the correct bed to work

I am running chevy 63” leafs and you can add up to 8” of wheelbase! This is my short wheelbase frame with 63’s and 112 wheelbase. They bolt up to the factory front spring hangers and the ride and flex are great! Mine has ls power as well!

nothing like grinding off the vin and re stamping a new one on the frame. could always shorten the bed since its already been cut on. just take a few inches out of the front or put a set of 60 springs on backwards to offset further back. 55 rear springs should be 47" with a centered pin. 60 springs will be 47 with a pin 1.5 closer to the front. spin em and youll gain a little

I think this is my favorite idea. (I’m not much of a mechanic).

I will need to extend the brake lines, extend the driveshaft and other than the springs and the frame… that’s about it. What else am I missing?

after looking at my 55 and early 45 frame its not a early 55 frame. dont have my later 55 in front of me so can't be 100% but the frame supports are different, shock mounts are not 55 and the cut out on the frame is different. this look like chassis on my early solid cab. hard to tell from the few pictures you posted just going off what i can see matches my 62/63 frame which would make since to a early 64 solid cab frame. wondering if its a 64 solid cab frame with a later model removable top cab. as that cab i believe is 65 or newer, the diagonal engine bay vent on passenger side i do not believe is on the 64 cab. just trying to help on wha i notice. i watched the auction and didnt care for the seller on either auction so your guess is as good as mine just posting what i see. measure the wheel base and that will give you a better guess. some longer springs would get you where you need to be. pretty simple really in the end of moving rear hangers. not like its s stock rig your trying to restore. looks like it will be a good driver and fun rig

Might be easier to modify the bed.

I want to inow the wheelbase, then we can figure out what this is? I know the seller, so he has the answer to this mystery?

Yes, Andy told me that the Frame is an FJ45 but then I spoke with the mechanic who actually did the work and he tells me it was a modified FJ40 frame. Kind of a mystery especially with the handmade VIN stamp. Definitely not Toyota so I’m at a loss. Also, being new to the 45 community, I just don’t know enough about them to know s*** from Shinola !

The truck is up at my friends shop right now, but when I get it back, I’ll make some measurements and take some pictures

It does measure at 104 inches

the back of frame is not correct for a 55. the round bar that shocks mount to is correct for a 45/40 where as the 55 has a rectangular cross brace that arches up not straight across. the oval cutout in frame channel behind shock cross member and leaf mount is correct for 45 the 55 is a rectangular cut out with rounded corners. also the flat cross member for spare on your frame is straight not arched like the 55. guessing it is a 45 frame, 55 wheel base is 106. 100% not a 40 frame for sure. to short in the ass end and design is wrong. the secondary z channel isnt correct for any of them and looks to be welded/tacked in. the bump stop mount will tell you. looks like behind the rear wheel is the early bump stop rivoted to the frame vs the 40 55 60 has the two bolts holding in the rubber bump stop to frame. and the axle is the bump stop the early 45 had the rubber mounted between u bolts on axle and the stop plate was permanently mounted to the frame. ive been wrong before but im going with correct frame for the 64 wrong cab. the removable top cab is a few inches longer than the solid cab. which would then cut out the few inches you need for that bed to fit.
