I need some fairly close up pics of the outside, backside & middle
(where the tube sits) of OEM 16" Split Rim.

Was wondering if someone could post some for me?

Weldcraft can widen them from 5.5" to 6.5" and keep the stock 3.5" backspace.
Well, most likely. I need to send them pics for them to double check

Cheers, Allen

I only have this picture and now the tube is repaired so it is put back together.

Thanks guys!

Are all OEM 16" split rims riveted? Not a prob just wondering.

Cheers, Allen

If they ain't split, they ain't ****

I have one rim that is riveted and was manufactured in August of 1977. My oldest welded rim was manufactured in November of 1983. The rest of my rims are 1984, 1986 and 1988, which are all welded.

A little porn is great way to start the day...

Looks great Joe!

Hey Joe, what color grey is that on your rims?

They look sweet!

Cheers, Allen

The major advantage of split rims over normal rims is that they are easily repairable on the side of the road, especially in relation to breaking the bead. Although now that everyone just carries a puncture repair kit, as long as you get to the flat tyre quick enough you can just pop one those repair thingys in the tyre

Yeah, that's about the only benefit of split rims.

But they are very heavy, too narrow and if handled by the inexperienced, they can kill you while inflating a tire on the side of the road.

So are you running riveted split rims over disc brakes? I think that the rule of thumb with 15" riveted wheels does not apply to the 16" riveted wheels since the wheel diameter is larger.

No idea, but might explain the screeching and burning smell ?
The front is the new type (welded, wide gap) I wil try the old type (rivet, closed gap) in front later.
My neighbor used one rusty welded splitrim tire for his john Deere tractor and he said the tire would not split so with a friend they used two cutting disks to attack the split-rim I gave him

next day showed him how to split one and that worked out pretty fast so dont know what they did, the friend worked on caterpillars with split rims :hmm: :meh:

(deflate, jump, separate)
