this was an idea I am toying with. well there are no photoes as i am building the first one when i get caught up.

specs : machined 14 bolt spindles to fit the cruiser housing.
machined hubs for 6 lug and disk brakes
yukon chromo 30 spline shafts.

estimated price is around 1100 for the complete kit

LIFETIME WARRANTY ON AXLES AND HUBS

ANY INTEREST OR DRAWBACKS.

Your weak link will still be the pinion. but never an axle shaft.

kit can be fully customized for any width.

You're coming up w/ some GREAT STUFF for cruisers rears.
So this idea you have, if I understand correct, would convert a SF rear to a full float w/ 14 bolt hardware!?!?
I AM LOVING THIS as an option!!
Looking down the road at 14 bolt rear which seemingly would be way overkill for the way I wheel, but upgraded cruiser axles would be a great, less work option.
I try to go easy on my rig, but...a little piece of mind goes a long way!!
 
I was going to do this with a 9" until I stumbled upon a complete 14 bolt to narrow. My incomplete first version has the 14B spindles lathe turned to weld into the bearing ends of the 9" and then narrow the tubes for WMS width. If the 14B shafts you get are long enough, you could have them cut down and resplined to work with the Cruiser diff. It would work for a 31 spline 9", so I don't know why not with cruiser 30 splines. The working diameter of the 14B shaft is slightly larger than either of the lighter axle splines above and cutting splines into it shouldn't go through the heat treated area. To do this with a Cruiser offset, you would likely need a C&C long shaft (42.5" under the flange to spline tip) and whatever other shaft for the short side.
 
How much stronger is the 9" pinion versus the cruiser pinion? I am aware of the extra support bearing, but the pinion I broke was at the splined end. Is that traditionally where they fail?

I have heard of the uber expensive 9" stuff but what do you get for the extra coin?

All my shafts are cut from yukon blanks. i can make whatever length you want.
 
What's the benefit over a stock FF rear axle?
 
if you r talking about the axle flange bolts then yes. i use grade 8 - 7/16x14 cap head Allen bolts.

Approximately 3 tonnes per bolt. cruiser flange 6 bolts @ 6k each = 36k lb provided each bolt is applied equally.
approximately 9 tonnes per bolt. 14 bolt flange 8 bolts @ 18 k each = 144k lp provided each bolt is applied equally.

now that is a little unfair as the cruiser axles use cone washers to increase load capacity and distribution. and 2 less bolts.





An 8.8 M10 bolt in shear will take over 3 tonnes in shear

Are the stock FF flange bolts bigger than the ones on the front axle? The head may be 10mm but the bolt diameter may only be 8mm?? Not to mention the dowels that are used. Not toention the 4 pin version from Longfield.??
 
I was referring back to Tapage that the 10mm bolt for the Toyota flange is only a 8mm shank, and even with a 6 pin flange it is pretty small compared the the 8 - 7/16 bolts on a 14B. Just wasn't sure about the bolt/flange set up onn the Toyota FF set up.
 
Either will have a good bit more meat than a Toyota FF hub then.
