Just bought a CHRA for my turbo from TurboPartsCity02 in California, balanced to 150,000 rev at 1.5mg, will see what its like when it arrives.

The same CHRA hear is 4 times that price?

4 times what price...... what did you get for the money.... how much and how long to get it here..... is it genuine or what brand......

Ok, picked up my IP from Diesel Australia, dodged a bullet on that one, they said it was in pretty good shape, full service, clean, few seals and bench test & calibrate..... $320.00

Not so lucky with the injectors, full rebuild on all six.......$480.00

Here a photo of my rebuilt engine, just have more finishing off to do in regards to painting.

The other photos are of all the brackets, tubes, fuel line, pipes, turbo. inlet & exhaust manifolds etc which were painted by Evolution Coatings. I have still not unwrapped them all as they came individually wrapped, they did a really good job on the coatings.

Beach work only, no mud and maybe a little pavement when I have to fill up the 110ltr tank with diesel.

Ready to put this beast back together? With my 2H diesel I found that unless I use mineral engine oil I would get low oil pressure.

Now with this full rebuild of the 12ht, should I use a mineral oil or a synthetic from the start?

Do I need to use a certain oil to run the engine in first?

PS. I live in the sub-tropic's in Queensland.

I would go for full synthetic becouse there is no real reason to go mineral... Using 0w50 mobil 1 rally formula on my ancient 12ht, works just fine...

I have noticed on the 12ht diesel engines in the US they are nearly all 24 volts, and with that you have 2 heat screens in the inlet manifold.

Here in Australia we have 12 volts and 1 heat screen, now having said that a lot of Aussie say because our climate is not as cold we only need 1 screen and because of the direct injection you don't need to glow anyway?

When I pull the heat screen from my donor engine before the rebuild the screen was 75% blocked with burnt hardened oil deposits, it was like 10 year old charcoal BBQ grill that no one had every cleaned. It took me 30 mins to get it this clean.

So much for not running your glow system, If your engine has excessive blow by, run the glow once in a while.

Nice work on the rebuild! What is that you have parked in the background?

Wow nice! I wish we got that kinda service on injectors and pumps around here!

Trying to think where I should send my injectors now....

Family owned, well run and goes out of his way, modern equipment, nice lab, business like this will always do well. Specially when his eye's light up when bring in a 12ht IP from the good old days, knowledge you cannot buy. Once a customer always a customer.

Trying to find a company, do your home work, yes I rang quiet a few, I explained what I way trying do with this rebuild of the 12ht, it seemed to me it was something the owner would enjoy and he remembered when these were the only IP's other than the IP's off 2H's he ever saw, even his staff I have to admit came out and were eager.

Some days you just have win, other day's all you met are s**t heads? what can I say!

PS. I have to admit this thou, my office is just across, 2 mins, one freeway, from an area that has every business you would ever need that is automotive, true you could drive your old FJ there and say I will be back in 6 months to pick it up, fully rebuilt, if that's want you wanted.

I have dropped off in the past the rear hubs, asked them to lath them so to bolt on disc rotors and then pick them up that afternoon.

Ok, my next problem is this, with my current 2H engine install the battery cradle is on the right hand side of the engine bay and the air cleaner to suit the 2H is on the left, that worked out well.

Now with the 12HT the air cleaner has to be where the battery cradle currently is on the right and the battery has to be moved to the left hand side so to make room, does anyone know of a company that made a left hand battery cradle to fit on the left hand side of the 40 series?
