I installed a usb charger port (beside cigarette lighter) on my 24v power and my.phome doesn't seem to care, nor my Bluetooth speaker.
Nice. Once I've caught up on house stuff I'll get into some fun stuff like that. Old Georgie is just gonna have to suffer with some loose ends for a while.

My console is just sitting there, because I haven't moved the ebrake yet, but that and all the little defrost/rear wiper switches do nothing in mine as yet.
Don't know if I'll even bother with rear wiper and all that crap.

Those are kinda fun tinker jobs tho. May enlist me old mum to make me another tranny hump saddle.:hillbilly:

Thanks again! Your truck looks better when you wave, from the correct seat!
I’m heading out as soon as I’m organized, which means I might just head out
organized or not. But at least IF it rains I’ll be ready.

No worries. Glad it works.

Might want to pop the cover and put a dab of oil or grease on the gears, I think that's half the reason they wear out, old grease gets so stiff that little motor has to work too hard.

Driving in opposite directions also helps with the trucks looks...can't see all the rust bubbles I have to fix

Might be the last year I can keep the decals intact...

Thanks for the advice. Would that light white lithium be best you think?
Don‘t want something that will warm up and drip away.

Not sure...?

some lithium grease thickens up over time. Used to use it on sailboat winches, and almost needed a chisel to clean it out a couple years later.

A couple drops of light oil might soften up the existing grease enough to be fine too.

I used wheel bearing grease in my ‘74 wiper motor. Never had any drips. So far so good... going on 27 years. :D

Thanks, this is the tiny little plastic intermittent wiper gear driven thingy. Although I’m thinking
maybe wheel bearing grease but just a tiny bit.

At the hospital one of the most common problems with an electric bed is the drive motors burning out or getting slow because the factory grease on the screws hardens (almost like they planned it)

Found that silicone spray liquifies the old grease then some red and tacky and you can avoid buying a $1k motor.

Would you look at all this s***...

90% of it I never want to see again, but I doubt I could even give it away. :meh:

And, this is what I spent the last hour or so on to avoid roofing. Too ****in hot today, and I need a break after doing 500' of fencing in the last two days. :bang:

Another head for the trophy wall. Keeps it out of the shed or the dump at least.

Is this a big trans oil cooler? Or some worthless A/C stuff ;)

And a sway bar? Width?

'worthless A/C stuff' you say....and on a day like today. Personally I'm happy I've retained mine; my vehicles are the only things cool around my place right now.

Haha even worse, worthless RHD AC stuff.

No sway bars, just steering links and RHD steering box.

Steering links are about the only thing I want to keep.

I'd be interested in that right hand drive steering box if you haven't already tossed it??
I do still have it, couldn't get the tre out of it without damaging it with just a pickle fork so I put the whole awkward thing in the shed.

I need to get a ball joint separator of some sort so I don't keep tearing up the boots.

Have you tried the two hammer technique?
1) loosen the nut
2) apply pressure to the joint to move it apart
3) use your non dominant hand to hold a BFH to one side of the pitman/steering arm
4) smack the opposite side of said arm with a second +/- 16 oz BFH.
5) repeat as necessary

9/10 times the impact will knock the tapered TRE out of the tapered arm.

I’ve also done 1&2, with a flipped the castle nut loosened so it’s flush with the end of the threads of the TRE. Then hit the face of the nut with a hammer. Problem with that technique is that if you don’t hit it flat and hard enough it’ll not work or F-up the TRE.

I learned the two hammer technique from a mechanic at an auto wrecker as a technique to have joints pop apart quickly without any damage. Penetrating oil should also help if it’s being stubborn. I found it works better than a ball joint puller... or the puller alone.

Oh I tried more than one hammer technique, believe me.

For whatever reason, this one is stuck. Now that it's off the truck it's easier to use pressure. Get some on it, then smack.

I'll drag it to my press one day but it's an awkward ****er, and hasn't exactly been a priority.

I'm sure Jon wouldn't mind picking it up from you if you don't mind hanging onto it until he is back? My plans to get down that way have gone sideways for 2 years in a row now but Jon stops by here once in a while. Trade for equal weight in beer?

2nd on the hammer method for separating ball joints, tie rod ends and other tapered pins. I never use my pickle fork anymore. Has worked on everything from a quad to an 1 1/2" pin on a skid steer using the appropriate size hammer :grinpimp:

Oh, look at you kids. Talking like a guy with my lack of finesse doesn't know how to use a hammer...:hillbilly:

Truth is, I was in full "get this s*** done" mode, so I gave it a few smacks, it didn't come loose like the others and said ****it and removed the steering box with the links attached because I didn't want to waste any more time on it.

And sure PG, if Jon wants to pick it up one day to deliver that's cool, but it's in a corner of the shed now so it's not in my way anymore .

Whatever works for you, if you find one up there sooner no worries.
