Turns out Greggs Distributors in nanaimo is a pretty useful shop. Walked in and they said , " you need our hose guy" he poked around and found some 10mm braze on fittings .
Guess we'll see how brazed fittings last, but they look good. He wasn't concerned, and he knows a fair bit more about this s*** than I do, so I'll trust him for now .
Only reason it took a couple extra days was they just got a new machine, and they didn't get the "crimp specs" with it, so they had to contact the company to get them sent over.

We have their catalogues at work, many many inches thick, probably not much they can't get.

This after walking into a hydraulic shop with it and getting " I hope that's not for that thing" (nods towards cruiser) as I walk in the door.

"we don't have metric, we can't flare we can't we can't we can't even open a book and pretend to be helpful" Stopped counting after 5 excuses.
Meanwhile my face probably had " how the **** can you not flare??" flashing across it.

I flared a ps line with a ballpeen hammer once and it didn't leak, the **** is wrong with you guys that are claiming to be a hydraulic shop???

Useless as tits on a donkey.

Anyways, the greggs guy was interested and spent some time looking for a solution, at other shop it was just excuses. So, ****em.

Bit of a wrestle to install.

This ends up pretty close. I think a shorter alternator belt will be all that's really needed to give it more clearance. Tho I could see changing to a BJ style ps pump with the attached reservoir if something in this system s***s the bed. It'd be a lot more convenient for plumbing with everything on the same side of the lump.

Ran the lines in some old firehose and strapped them down away for all the spinny bits.

Then this happened.

Started with the key, and even better, it shut off with the key. :grinpimp:

Still need to extend the fuel gauge wires, fine tune the throttle linkage and verify the tcase is shifting and figure out which is it's indicator light.

Then it's bugs in the teeth test drive time. :hillbilly:

Looks like mine. If it’s working, no sense changing it. Thanks for the heads up on Greggs. I like that store. If you get bored with the forum you can always download their catalogue on PDF.

Yeah we order stuff all the time from Greggs at work, I didn't know they did custom hoses. Definitely were good to deal with. I have their printed catalogue here...damn near 6 inches thick. :geek:

Looks like you must have a shorter belt on there because you aren't nearly as far out on the adjustor as I am. Mine alt is only 1/4" from the return fitting, which is a wee bit close for my liking. I'll do a shorter belt when I get a chance see how much it opens up. Even an inch would be an improvement.

I'd only change if my pump fails or something like that. Not entirely sure the idiots who had my truck didn't top it up with brake fluid. Black horrible smelling s*** came out of it when I flushed it when I first got the truck.

I don't remember offhand what the alt belt is...B-45 or something? That might be the 3b one...

I'll check my spare in the quarter panel tomorrow if I remember, subtract an inch or two.
The one on the truck has the metric numbers that mean sweet f.a. to me...

And for the all important pictures...
This was almost ceremonial.

My belts are new Toyota, proper 12HT numbers. Still can get them in Duncan from Toyota for normal $25 or
thereabouts. The PS had to come up from CA.

Mine were Toyota as well I think, although I rarely use toyota belts. Only ever used industrial belts on any of my 3b's.
A fan that runs 24/7 all year is harsher use than a little alternator for a couple hours a day. Don't think I've ever seen one break.

When I bought the 61 the belts were so old chunks were missing... Can't blame the pg muppets anymore tho.

At any rate, I had some tension to spare so I just slacked it off a bit for clearance. Supposedly the belt is 43.5" so I'll see what I can find.

Getting down to the short and curlies now.

Kinda funny, this is supposedly "toyota beige" looks poo brown to me.

Decided silver looked better even if it's the wrong silver. One of these days I'll have to give the whole truck a squirt. I'll put that off for as long as possible tho. I loathe painting.

Small difference had me out rooting in the shed for the blue bj60's hinges. They changed the bolt pattern slightly.

I threw on the old man helper struts. Take up a lot of real estate, but it's kinda nice lifting the hood with one hand. Never had them on the truck before, I suspect because that's where they mounted the 24/12 converter. Think I can find somewhere else for that thing.

Useful trick some may not know.
Plexiglass scrapers. Always keep scraps of plexi, you can make one of these in 30 seconds on a bandsaw.

The cat's ass for scraping stuff off paint without damaging the paint.

In my case all the black sealant around the windshield.

So far the only thing that's really fighting me is the 4wd indicator light on the dash. 4wd works, I have 24v at the back of the switch when throwing the lever OR hitting the switch, but no power to the lamp socket.

Could easily bypass and have it work, but the WHY is bugging me. :hmm:

Not sure I like sitting on this side. Might change it back. ( no. )

Not before having to adjust the clutch freeplay and bleed the steering

Big ol' chirp when I lifted the clutch pedal because it engaged about 1/4" off the floormat

I'm sure a few more things will pop up after my trip to ladysmith for a windshield tomorrow.

That's pretty awesome! Congrats!

Thanks, and yeah, I'm glad I finally went for it. Ran out of excuses...

Now I can finally clean up the shop, because sweet heyzoos is it a fawking mess in here.

Something interesting about all this, the truck has had a lean in the rear for ages. About 1.25" low on the right side.

Finally bugged me enough that I made an appointment at the spring shop in ladysmith to get the left side de-arched a bit. Fortunately they were really busy and the appointment I made in July was for mid september...

Lean seems to have dropped to only 1/4" now, and if I move the spare tire across ( I should, it blocks vision a bit now that I'm on the other side) or put my tools on that side it'll be gone.

So yeah, guess I'll be calling to cancel...

I know mine leans depending on what's in back. Doesn't take much to correct it. Moving spare will definitely change it.
Some people take months to do this, I'm thinking we could count the hours, including when you slept and still be faster
than anyone else. Wicked! Impressed.

Did you keep the wiring harness from the LH truck or did you use it?

Haha, thanks , those first 4 days were probably 75% of it. If my windshield appointment had been last week I'd have got it done sooner, but having to wait made the last part a bit more relaxing. I dogfucked a fair bit over the last week to be honest

I still remember the days of the transmission being on the shop floor at 11pm on a sunday and needing to drive to work at 7am monday...

With the springs, this was a pretty good lean, because everything was on the right side before. Might've been close to 1.5", actually made truck corkscrew a bit on the highway.

I cancelled the spring appointment, I'll let it settle itself out for a while but it's already closer. There's definitely some weight that got moved across with the steering s***, but I wouldn't have thought it would have that much effect on the rear end.

Either way, I'll give it some time before doing anything drastic.

With harness, no, I didn't touch the LHD hj60 one, I'll give it back to Abel next time I'm in his neighbourhood. The harness from the blue 60 was pretty cooked in some areas, so I just used it for parts and patch wires that were the right colour (if they were still copper looking and not black or previously on fire...

Ah, was hoping to pirate the wiper intermittent relay. Mines buggered.
either way, job well done!

12V. Happy to hear if you have one.

Nice work! You managed that rather quickly I must say. It'll gather some looks from people who know the graphics/colour yet see its LHD. Most of them will probably come up to you in parking lots and want to chat about it, which I know you love. At least they won't be tweed sporting Limeys that want to explain how well their truck worked in the Welsh countryside. :grinpimp:

You know it's kinda funny. I don't mind the whole "wear a mask" thing for the most part.

I have weapons grade RBF at the best of times, but now I don't even have to pretend to smile at these ****in people.
Crinkle the eyes a bit and they assume it's a smile.
In actual fact it's a scowl at best, but they **** off and leave you alone.

For the truck tho, I'm pretty happy. It's like I didn't realize how much the RHD bothered me until I fixed it.

Really is like gaining a new vehicle.

Got new glass yesterday, and drove it to work today. Not sure the glass guy is going to be super excited about doing more 60 series

Couple rattles to chase down and I forgot to connect the defrost cable, but nothing too serious.

My fan resistor was pooched so I've ordered a new one.

Also found a 24 volt head unit online, so I'm going to give that a shot. Plain looking truck radio, doesn't look like a freaking neon disco like most of them.

Discovered while looking for stereos that had "non volatile memory" or 2 wire power, that the memory wire that is the constant draw usually becomes the main power source for the stereo once it's switched on.
The switched power is just a signal to tell it to turn on. So with any sort of center tap situation in a 24v truck, it's not just the memory draw, it's the whole damn stereo when it's on.
Don't know why memory is such an issue with car stereos. You'd think with how cheap memory sticks are now they could incorporate that so they didn't need a constant draw to retain settings.

New 24v deck wasn't that much more than what I'd have bought here, it'll be nice to completely eradicate all 12v draws, so if I put the converter back in it'll just be for a phone charger or fridge or something.

I'll probably still put the little solar panel on. Works just too well.

I installed a usb charger port (beside cigarette lighter) on my 24v power and my.phome doesn't seem to care, nor my Bluetooth speaker.
