Glad I don't have to put this s*** back together.

And that's enough for one day.

I'll do the cutting tomorrow when my thinker is a tad fresher.

VIHA better not see this and realize how hard you can actually work.

Nicely done.

Haha viha has it's collective head way too far up it's ass to see anything. I have to tone it down to near flatline or the useless bucket of c***s I work with will get all butthurt.

It's ****ing absurd...

But, save the nicely dones for when I get it back together...so far this is just rampant destruction, even young Steven could pull it off.

Fun!

Mirrors, seats, ebrake, and fuel/hood release could be fun too :)

Glad someone's finally posting a legitimately traceable thread on this...it'll make the next time I do it so much...who am I kidding, I'll never do that again!

haha, yeah there's the odd detail. Reaching over the center console for the ebrake

Might be time to finally put in one of those police car consoles I got from the crustaceous one.

My hood release has always been kinda ****ed so hopefully I can find the blue one. I may have put it somewhere "safe"

Fuel door...yeah that's gonna be a reach across or passenger's job.

I doubt I'll bother with power mirrors. I haven't adjusted them in 5 years, and if they're manual, anyone else who drives it will leave them alone because it's too much of a pain in the ass.

I do have the smaller black 60 mirrors in a box so I may just use them. Less chrome is good.

I'm going to try to keep the power windows tho....and the sunroof is a definite. I'm allowed one meagre creature comfort.

Yeah, I re-routed the fuel door lever to mid-console area. Seemed to work. My BJ60 didn't have that option so with the 61 body I had the option so I made it work. My hood release was already on the correct side. You'll need to be more creative than I needed to be I presume because you're actually swapping the drive side, where I was just swapping the body.

Electric mirrors apparently need to be whichever-hand-drive specific as their natural resting place is messed up if it's backwards.

I was thinking that. Now that I have it out of the way there's a fair bit of slack.

Time for some more cutting...

I didn't really need to take it so far apart, but I wanted to harvest all the nuts and bolts etc.

Keep it up and people will think you care.

re viha... a lifetime ago I had a junior coworker there complain to a supervisor that he didn’t like my offering to help when he was struggling. Apparently offering to help and being a team player is a bad thing there. It makes my brain hurt how broken it is there. Being really good at what you’re doing is a bad thing and should be avoided at all cost... mediocrity is the only rewarded criteria.

Yep, and incompetence is given managerial positions, because it's too hard to fire people. DFO is the same. It is virtually impossible to get rid of someone even if they flat out don't do their job. Best they can do is offer a transfer to some remote outpost.

Back to cruiserland...

It's not RHD anymore. Course, it ain't exactly LHD either.

Ended up drilling the spots and taking the mounts. I had a spot of rust in the same spot as the blue truck, so I wasn't gaining anything by doing a cut and weld.

Now to make the blue one match and strip the harness out of it.

You’re fortunate that bylaw enforcement isn’t getting on your back about the state of your yard. I’m getting hassled because I have a spare tire in the fenced back yard by my garden shed and a pile of grass clippings in a back corner of the yard.

Be sure to buy off your neighbours so no one complains... 🤷‍♂️

When I build a new fence it’ll need to be taller... or grow a hedge so there isn’t a height restriction... 10-15 feet would be sufficient.

Haha, that won't be a problem here...we moved to cedar 5 years ago. Everyone has a few dead cars here.

But no mess here, have a moat on one side and forest on the other 3 so I'm well hidden and all this s*** is inside the shop anyways 😊

Just so there's a picture. This spotweld is hidden. That's the floor pan seam at outer edge.

Pretty much have to chisel it...assholes.

IMG_20200814_120901.jpg

And wtf Mr Toyota?

IMG_20200814_120909.jpg

Never did that with the engine in before, was it much more of a chore? Wires for the sunroof and pod on the interior will be your only circuit to add onto the wiring harness maybe strip that section out of the harness. Looking good, big job.

Actually not too bad. It's not in the way of any drilling, just very close when you have to push the bottom forward to get it out from under the floor pan.

If I did this again i wouldn't take out engine.
Taking the body the rest of the way off would be easier I think...

@PeeZed got me paranoid about the glass fitting so I stuck the vintage glass in for a test. Seems ok. About a seals width and parallel gaps.

One of these time it's gonna explode when I pick it up
IMG_20200814_152355.jpg

Speaking of gaps... good thing I waited till I'd slept to cut this.

Obviously I drew the line on wrong side of the bevel gauge...I figure if that's my worst ****up I'm doing ok.

Seems the coffee's paying off...looking forward to seeing production after beer thirty comes around :)

Haha, beer doesn't slow my production, just my accuracy. Although clearly my accuracy is s*** even without.

I am trying to avoid beer for a bit tho, the "covid 19" can have more than one meaning

So nice that none of this delicate hammer smashing is visible

Nothing but patina and redneck AC! Have to admit always admired you’re get to it-ness!

Haha in this case it's kind of 6 years of annoyance with rhd coming out all at once.

I figger if I can reduce this project to one s***ty weekend where I get all the major crap done, when I'm back on days off later in the week I'll hopefully be down to the smaller fiddly jobs.

One thing I'll have to do is get a longer power steering hose. I don't think I've seen another cruiser with a banjo fitting on the pump? Kind of thing I'd have taken to Island Hose back when I lived in chemainus, there has to be a decent hydraulic shop in nanaimo tho.

And this is going to require some ****ery. A wee bit close.
Not as close as it looks in that pic, but too close.

BJ heater core vs HJ I'm guessing? Probably just cut the elbow off have the joint close to firewall.

I'm off to a slow start today. Time for a cleanup, the pile of rhd specific crap I don't need is getting kinda big and in the way.

Yesterday was kindof a half day. Went to see Abel to grab the hj harness, and did some minor **** around jobs in the am.

Throttle setup is pretty different from 3b to 12ht, so some mixing and matching of gas pedal parts. Still no there yet. More bending...
IMG_20200815_094940.jpg

I got the firewall welded in , so that at least is done.
IMG_20200816_085129.jpg

IMG_20200816_085138.jpg

In the end I decided not to use the hj60 harness and just flip mine. Most of the engine bay stuff will reach, I'll run a loom across above the firewall lip.
What I'd like to do is move the sunroof harness across, but it's how to get under the headliner without ****ing it up.

The wiring for the ass end of the truck will be the bigger pain, but, we don't do these things because they're easy...

Today I'll hopefully get the steering box and links moved. Fortunately the blue 60 had a fresh set of tre's on it...
