Here is my solution to finicky and troublesome carbs.............. I swore after my carb. debacle keeping me from attending the August Tellico run I would have FI :grinpimp: now all I have to do is make it run...... headed to Alans tomorrow to pull all the wiring and the fuel pump!! Thanks to richard, for his help positioning this behemoth into the 40

I am putting in the brake master from the 62........ so it should fist fine, it is much smaller than the 40 series, but I haven't actually installed it yet so I will let you know. I would think you wouldn't have a problem either with your FJZ 80....

Now JP put that carb on Rico's and see if ya can get the piggy to squeal. That carb he took off mine has to be the lynch pin. That thing sucked big time when it was on mine. Looks sweet by the way, jealous I wasn;t there to get greasy with ya'll.

Marshall I had to do a little grinding on the fire wall but the 62 master and booster fit like a charm and the smaller size of the 62 master left me with plenty of clearance ....... also thanks to you I now have a parking brake finally!!!!!!! I have owned two cruisers for over 3 years and it took me until now to have an functioning cruiser parking break:doh:

well I got the wiring harness pulled and I figure another couple of days of sorting out what I don't need and figuring out what I do and probaly cutting a few wrong ones along the way............ and I will have the engine ready to fire!!!!!!! hopefully this time next week I will be cruising around in a 3FE 40. Then if it is running right I will take a step towards the ridiculous side and start fabbing up the custom exhaust manifold and hook up the Garrett t3/t4 turbo I have......... at that point I give it a matter of days before I blow up that poor old 3FE

oh and marshall anytime you want to come to Clemson and play with some minor wiring issues feel free, I have cold beer in the fridge waiting :grinpimp:

had some fun with the wiring harness yesterday........ me and my roomate spent a good 3 hours striping the harness down to what I believe are the necessary functions  we will see........:crybaby:

It will all be worth it when I have FI:grinpimp:

Looks fun... That is the exact reason i havent got around to doing an EFI swap on my truck yet.

All in due time...

well I put in what was left of the 62 wiring harness and I got it to turn over today. There is power to the coil but I don't seem to be gettin any spark ......... hmmmmmmm sounds like some ghetto wiring 101 in my future.

Marshall, what kind of beer do you like, I'd like to have some nice cold ones ready for you :grinpimp:

oh yeah I have one for sure......... theres no need for you to come down on a Sunday night. I will be around all next week, I am going to try and work it out, if not I will bring in the professional :D

Thanks for the offer!

well didn't have much time today or yesterday, but luckly my last exam is at 830 in the morning tomorrow and after that it is non-stop cruiser work until Sat.

I did manage to make a custom mounting system for my hi-po perma cool fan (thanks to the beast) so now I have an electrical fan that will pull way more at idle....
also I patched together the throttle cable from the 62 and the gas pedal from the 40 to make a "frankenstien" throttle linkage :grinpimp:

Leave it to a mafia guy to make spaghetti :D

Looks like a good project, JP. You are doing the right thing by thinning out that wiring harness. Glad you got the engine to fit. If you still have a clearance problem with the firewall, don't be afraid to bang it in as needed with a BFH. We have done this in the past with V-8 swaps where the right side head staggers back into the firewall. Make sure you have enough to account for frame flex and twist when you start torqueing your way up lower 2.

Good luck and keep us posted.

What grinding did you need to do? I still have the original 40 booster in mine and would like to move to a smaller booster. Is the 62 booster (other than grinding) pretty much plug and play?
