Same bolt pattern but the part that sticks through the firewall was bigger. He just made the hole a little bigger. About a 1/4" I think.

I have no clearanc issues with the 62 booster in there......... The bolt patterns are identical as stated above I had to grind about .25 to .50 inches; because the output rod of the 62booster is slightly higher up than that of a 40. Besides the minimal grinding it was plug and play bolted right up to the stock 40 brake pedal

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help

So how did you end up routing your exhaust?

Where did you mount ECU?

What did you use for fuel pump?

And the biggest question! What are you doing with your air flow sensor or am I reading you're using a different computer (GM?) What filter system are you using for air?

you are ahead of me on all those questions.........

The ECU is just resting on the floorboard at the moment, I am temporarily using the stock FJ62 pump just to get it running, as for the exhuast once I get the wiring problem sorted out and if the engine runs good, I intend install a Garret T3/T4 turbo so the exhaust will be custom............

for the moment I am at a stand still the 40 is sitting a hundred miles away while I am at home for X-mas break, so I won't be able to work on it for a few weeks......... When I am done I intend to do a write up for tech, if all goes well!!!

Is your 40 up and running??? If so how does the 3FE feel in the 40 :grinpimp:

It's running! I just have to sort out of all of the really annoying questions like the tensioner pulley for the air pump (req'd here) won't fit so I have to tension it some other custom way; or like the 62 air filter does NOT fit (not even close) and have to come up with some inventive way for air filtration. ECU's bolted against the glove box but then forgot that's where the air feed runs; gotta change that now.

Anyway, it's AWESOME in the 40. This won't make sense until you dive it but it feels as though my 4.11s are 5.29s, it feels VERY quick and high revving when you drive it (I have it against my H42). I say this a lot but if the 40 series was made in 88-90 the 3F-E would have been THE engine.

The higher revs of the 3F-E are smooth and in my opinion the most perfect gasser engine the 40 could ever ask for.

Exahust was a b!@#$ and way over priced from the shop. The air intake thing is driving me nuts because I don't want to do a K&N. I also need to dump the fan and get an electric, but there's just 100s of little things like that that need to be done, running me $ into the ground ;-)

It's topless weather here now, so I need to get home and finish her up.

I failed this one miserably, the 3F will be coming out Wed. when I get back to Clemson............ and in will go the 2F........24 hours do an engine swap and re assemble the 40

That is all :grinpimp:

Damn Virgo I never thought I'd see the day when you failed whatever project you were working on for your cruiser. On the bright side I have jack squat to do so I'll help you do the swap on thur when I dont have class.

really shouldn't be bad, since this will be about the 10th engine pull........ it is getting purty rutine now, the thing I really need help with is seperating the tranny from the engine and swaping it over to the 2F can't do it by myself, so I will buy you some PBR and you can help me lift the heavy mofo in place......

PBR you trying to keep me from helping you, if you dont want my help just say so. I figure with as many engines as you have done we should be able to swap it by lunch and drive to keith st for a beer afterwards.

From what I got he may have cut a portion of the wiring harness out which he needed. But I want to hear in more detail as well.

yep, basically that is it............. I need a new front wirring harness, I clipped some necessary wires when I was thinning out the harness  and at the moment I am flat broke, so I am still going to do this when I have the proper time, instead of trying to rush thru like I did this time. So for now the trusty 2F will go back in for the Tellico trip next weekend.........

also when I took apart the EFI I found the Throttle body was very gunked up as was the head............ it just need to be disassembled and cleaned before I attempt reinstalling it

once I finish school and have a JOB I will once again attempt to join the ranks of the FI world
