Looking to put one behind a SBC and TH700.
Easy to get.
Easy upgrade to Orion?
Lower output shaft for better drive shaft angle.

What else??

If you are gonna wheel the rig or your customer is then 2 things. Case saver (search here or pirate) and a heavy duty skid plate to protect all that nice aluminum (700r4 and 3spd case)
What about a "split case" from and fj60/62? they are stronger and plentiful.

Stew

agreed...split case is a much better choice, tho the adapter to that is different and would cost ya more long-term if you were planning a Orion....

If by " upgrade to Orion" you mean that you think a Toyota three speed T/C could be upgraded to Orion specs - it can't be. The Orion is a completely new redesign that uses it's own cast iron case that is larger. The Orion innards will not fit inside the Toyota case.

I was thinking the orion was a direct replacement for a three speed case. So it would be an easy bolt in. Am I wrong??

You're right, it is a replacement. I just thought from the way you asked that you might think that the Toyota box itself could be upgraded to Orion gearing.
