Finally swapped out my tired 1F for the younger 2F sitting on the floor.
It took 3 days, which was 1 day tooooo long.

The only big issue is an exhaust leak...of the exhaust studs appeared to slip as I was torquing the intake/exhaust (slipped at 25lbs, all others are set to 30lbs) :(

I called my favorite Toyota parts guy (John Hocker - Sierra Toyota), and ordered a bunch of studs.
I'm hopping that the new studs (switching from bolts to studs) will take care of the leak.

Other issue maybe a stuck thermostat (stuck closed), upper hose appear to have any flow...

Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Simply remove motor for increased lift :D

Busted one of my radiator support studs, so I called one of my buddies that doesn't live in Stockton.
My 1st TIG work, Thanks Doug :D

Does anyone want to trade something for a 1977 clutch-fan shroud?
55 fan will not mount onto 2F wp, and 1F shroud does not fit 77 clutch-fan.

Let me know If your interested in any of the following (left over from swap):
55 plastic cooling fan/spacer
2F alternator/bracket
1F water pump recently installed
2F valve cover
1F fan shroud
4spd Bell-housing
4spd flywheel
2F intake/exhaust
2F smog pump w/o bracket
2F dizzy
2F side-cover
old cranky 1F
77 2F starter
(air plumbing along the top of head are a few ends short...twisted off)

Nice looking rig.

Nice Cruiser. I really love the color.

Looks like an easy swap... I'll be doing it once the snow melts.

Do you have the part number for the 465 pilot bearing?

Thanks

Federal-Mogul Bearings, part# 202-RRE

tip -
Don't forget to swap the two electrical sending units that are next to the carb (in head)...
Guages and there associated SU's are not all equal.

Nice, only thing better than an F is a 2F.... Great pics sharp rig....

All HALE the F!!

Thanks Guys, looking forward to finishing this 2F install.

Other then the shroud, and exhaust leek...another outstanding issue how to secure my HEI.

The 1F utilized TWO bolts to secure the dizzy, my 2F only provisions for one :(
You see, the HEI shaft OD is smaller then the toyota dizzy, and the original HEI base was removed to provide needed depth.
A short PVC ring was kinda working, but now that one less bolt...I would like to look for a better solution.

I remember seeing a base/sleeve that could be clamped onto the HEI shaft.
Is this jogging anyone's memories?

thanks,
manny

Most excellent rig señor!

We could maybe work some deals. I'm about to put my stock exhaust back on, and I'm sure some parts from that pile of rust would fit right in there. I wish I hadn't already ponied up at $OR.

I'm not sure I understand your shroud problem, but I have a fan from a '78 40 if you need it.

3 Day sounds pretty good to me ...it took me 3 weeks to do my 1f/2f swap.. there was a lot of coffee, beer , nut scatching, broken bolts, rust, blood, and cussing.....then the daytime job....but it's all done and Tellico tested...but then, i'm an old fart and move kinda slow. I am lookin for a shroud also, let me know if you find a couple in good shape.

The later fan (clutch-fan type) are larger then the earlier fj40 metal/fj55 plastic fans.
I imagine the later shrouds have a larger hole to accommodate...

Your Shroud sounds promising...it it's handy, could you take some measurements?

Looks good Manny. You have a nice looking rig. I think the paki softtop will compliment it nicely.:).....if it ever it gets here.:)

the following items are gone...or will be.
2F alternator/bracket
1F water pump recently installed
1F fan shroud
77 2F starter
2F dizzy
55 plastic fan/spacer
maybe exhaust, and intake

I'll verify the OD on my fan and some measurements of shroud mounting locations this evening.

Eddy, will shoot you a PM.
thanks

17" 8blade fan,
Eddie, what ID is your shroud?
thanks,
manny

OT: What is the tire size on your rig? It looks great (as the rest of the car)..

tires - bfg MTs 33x105R15

I scored a shroud from our very own local super-cruiserhead - Ryan.

thanks guys for everything, and let me know If you could use any thing that's left from the spare parts :
2F valve cover
4spd Bell-housing
4spd flywheel
maybe 2F intake/exhaust
2F smog pump w/o bracket
2F side-cover
old cranky 1F
(air plumbing along the top of head are a few ends short...twisted off)

UPDATE
----------------------------------------
I think the only item left is the old cranky 1F
