Where did these options on my FJ-60 come from?

We wanna see H55 where it says H42. :flipoff2:

Never mind

Sorry for the delays folks. (It's that pesky thing called "work"!:D) I was FINALLY able to snap a few more photos. (I apologize for the ****py cellphone photos, but my Nikon's batteries were dead!) More to come (hopefully) later today.

With regard to the custom bumper, that was fabricated after I purchased the truck by Custom Offroad in Montebello, California. They also did the alterations to the WARN front bumper. One of the few offroad fabricators in the area, Octavio's work is top notch. If your looking to get something fabbed in the Los Angeles region, give him a call at 323-568-6835. He also fabricated some protection for the transfer case. I'll take some phots of that tonight.

Finally, the "Arakawa Auto Body" sticker on the lower front passenger door is a complete mystery to me. Does anyone know if that's a body shop in the Los Angeles region? I can't find any infomration about it if it is. Anybody out there have this tag on their Landcruiser?

More photos!

I included a better shot of the rear bumper and swingouts. The PIIA lights are set into the bumper and they are quite bright!

The roll bar was already installed in the 60 when I first purchased it. The tailgate storage and the rear panels are (obviously!) Wagongear products that I installed a couple of years ago. Finally, the TLC Landcruiser license plate frame was somehting I picked up from them when I went out to Van Nuys to pick up some parts. To my knowledge, the 60 was never worked on at TLC by the original owner.

Some basic exterior shots, a shot under the hood from the passanger side and (FINALLY!) the VIN plate. Looks like it come with the 4-speed originally, so I'm guessing that the H55 was a dealer install? (When I first bought the 60, the woman who owned it said that as far as she knew, her father never had the transmission changed himself.)

Probably the eject button for the passenger seat..:D

To be honest, I don't know what it is. Its in the line between the CB radio and its antenna. It came with the CB and the person who installed it connected it there. I'll take a better shot of it over the weekend and post it.

your engine tag says it all, it was just a regular federal spec fj60 when it left japan.
the cable lockers, ff rear and h55 where all added later. the cable lockers and rr rear where some things that i do not believe were ever supported in this country by toyota.

Nice Cruiser! Whatever you do, PLEASE keep the body color-matched wheels, it looks awesome. Also, I'd consider getting rid of your taillight guards, most think they create more damage than protection

Arakawa Body Works is a division of Toyota that made auto bodies, the name was later changed to ARACO.

Yep.
Mystery is over. Somebody seriously modded it.

Congrats on the rig. I love the cable locked FF.

Thanks for all the feedback folks! Now, I just need to figure out if the mods were done when the 60 was originally purchased at the dealership, or at some point afterward. (If any of you were Toyota mechanics with "special skills" who was working in Southern California in the late 1980's, all I can say is "HELP ME"!)

I went back to the young woman I originally purchased it from with a whole lot of follow up questions, but I could have probably gotten more useful responses if I asked my shoe the same questions! :crybaby: At this point, does anyone know a good medium so I could conduct a little Q & A with her deceased father!?!:censor: What I'd like to know is how the h*** did they source and install the full-floaters/cable lockers cause there s no evidence of "cut-and-paste" that I can detect?

Now Woytovich, when you said "switched air intake," what were you referring to? I did the Chevy alternator mod and the snorkel install myself, but the air intake cleaner is the original one that came with my 60 when I first purchased it. Isn't my intake cleaner the same as what you'd find on any other, garden variety FJ60? If not, can any of you post photos of what a "normal" FJ60 air intake looks like?

He is referring to the intake horn off the bottom portion of the air cleaner. It should be facing the opposite way to pick up hot air off the manifold via that vacuum flapper and tube from heat shield #1, and cold air from behind the driver side headlight.

Said it before, but suspect the mods were done by Man A Fre or Spector off road , maybe Downey, back in the day, it did not come with them from the dealer. Both of those outfits had access to non US parts. On a late model 60, I think everything was very close to bolt on

Original Equipment or not, your rig is excellently equipped, and even though these did not come installed by the dealer, the person who installed the mods made sure it would seem that way, both in gear and execution..
