    New LC, first trail mod?

So, you took your "new" 80 to Albuq. and took it for a run but did not post up with the locals (HDC) to join you? Just wrong, but welcome anyways :flipoff2: ! Another vote for sliders first.

    starting problem

I just went through the same thing. Replaced the starter, but it still ran rough after. I ended up taking the battery to NAPA (I checked the volts and it was fine with 14.1) but it did not test good with amps. Bought a new one and now runs fine. Battery might be a good idea to check, before you...

    Starter help

Thanks for the advice guys! The problem was that out of frustration I started to loosen the dizzy to get to the alt (thinking that might have been a problem). Then is occured to me that removing the battery tray would be a better idea. Well I did not set it back right :bang:! With some help and...

    Starter help

I took it in today, part of the problem. It did not pass the test. Bought a new one, waited serval minutes for it to reset, but the same problem occurred. Now she started fine, but she dies without gassing it. How long does it take to reset the CPU? Could the alt cause this? No lights on the dash...

    Starter help

Yeah, I deserve that one! Too many bills to pay, and I'm digging a grave. The rough idle sounds like a cracked intake hose - perhaps you checked the air filter while doing the starter and cracked it? That'll give rough idle. Otherwise, recheck your connections on the starter and as noted...

    Starter help

Well, alomost two weeks ago, my 80 died when we braked for lunch on a run. I got a jump from a Mudder, and made it home. I took apart the starter, and upon inspection, it looks like it was the wrong seal and brushes (they were smashed to fit the cover). I picked up a cold climate starter from...

95fzj80 with ARB VS Dodge Intrepid

OK now I see the skid mark from her spining around. Did not notice that at first.

95fzj80 with ARB VS Dodge Intrepid

Just out of curiosity, how did a head on collision happen on that side of the road. Good to hear know one was hurt.

    Advice with starting issue

Thanks for the info. I talked to Dan today, he told me some about what I need to rebuild it, but I also have a friend that is a mechanic, mostly GM stuff, so there is my problem with parts he says I need to trust him. I think I would rather stay with the Toy folks and take there word for it. I...

    Advice with starting issue

Looks like the starter is the culprit. The contacts are going. And it did not help the "new" battery was only putting out 11.5 volts. Guess that is going back to Optima. The rough idle was not the full fifteen minutes, I just left it running a bit longer to make sure was going to stay running...

    Advice with starting issue

Went offroading yeasterday. We stopped for lunch and my truck would not start. I got a jump and drove home, but she would not start again without a jump. I assumed the battery so I put an Optima in that I had lying in the garage. She started up, but with a rough idle. I assumed after reading...

    New here with a question

Maybe they act like a flotation device and keep the 80 from sinking? First I have ever seen that trim myself. BTW :flipoff2: welcome. Hope you find a home here.

    shakey sideview mirror FIX

ding, ding, ding! winner winner, chicken dinner! I'm not sure how that socket popped out, but without the glass in there, is sits without any problems. Like I said the pin is to short, but it may be because I used a '94 (I think) mirror on a '97. Not sure if the motors are exactly the same...

    what about headers?

Only if I make sure the bend goes towards the back. It actually acts has a spoiler and puts weight on the back and gives me that added traction to fly by you! :flipoff2:

    shakey sideview mirror FIX

That is what I did the first time. My problem was that it still came loose and almost fell off. I thought that there would be a more secure connection between the plastic that holds the mirror to the motor assembly. I tried to see if it needed to be pushed in more, but broke the glass. After...

    shakey sideview mirror FIX

The first post of this thread (pics #1 and 2) show two clips on both sides of the center. Post #19 shows the piece where the mirror is attcached to. Do I need to make sure those are clipped in? Or do I only need the "claws" that mount to the motor assembly?

    How big a tire......Just kidding

Don't worry about -B-. I think he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Besides I don't remember Beowulf when I read the classic novel or watched the move required in high school. "Grumpy Old Men" might be a better movie for him anyways! BTW welcome to mud :flipoff2: !!!

    Side Mirror Assembly question

:bang: ignore my 2 cents!. Well it gets the mirror off but pressing the other mirror on is another story. Everything was going well, but when pushing the "new" mirror on to the motor mounts I cracked the mirror. So now, even the new cracked mirror is better, now I have the wobble too. Tought...
