Uncorked this beauty after an early lunch with my boy.

This truck had an H55 in it but it had the smaller 34mm split case. JTU wanted 3:1 gears so that case was a goner.

We decided to just get a brand new case and a full rebuild on the H55

I’m about to stuff if in but before I take up all of this real estate I decided to give the tub and frame a good wash down so this pretty stuff goes against a pretty frame and body

I got the H55 stuck. This new tranny jack I have is so legit.

Then I started bolting in the rear crossmember only to realize I bought a 80-84 transmission mount

Dammit. @cruiseroutfit is out of the 85-87…so is Georg.

I found one on Rock Auto….for now though

The last big trip JTU made to Colorado, he had lots of technical difficulties leading to this project. One I don’t guess he knew about was the rear shock was not attached to the frame 😆

Calling it a day on this one. Got a new slave cylinder on and most all the things cleaned up and reattached underneath the engine bay.

Had the heat shields powdercoated. They look sharp next to that Toyota masterpiece

This thing has been sitting in a dusty shop for years and I just had to wash it today. Could not stand to work on a dusty truck anymore.

Took the weekend to sort out things on my 40 shop project and yesterday I went on a 200 mile ride in my own 60.

Back on this one. Building back the engine bay a piece at a time

First things first. Hood struts.

This was a relatively new CSM radiator but I cleaned it and painted it and inspected. Looks good to go

Looking pretty nice under here. Mounted the air box to see where I have real estate for all of this Sniper coil and igniter stuff

You worried about that PS pipe being so close to the header ?

Given the lower drop of the 105 vs 60 series pitman arm, how did you get the steering stabilizer to fit?

It’s not noticeably different. I’ve got the same setup on my 60. No issues.

Been doing a lot of other stuff today and have only had a couple of hours on the JTUSixty.

I ordered a non US bezel and light bezels last year from Yemen and it came in the best charcoal gray color. Now, when a truck needs a refresh I take them to Powder Keg and they Cerakote the old chrome ones and make them look better than new.

JTU had some Tiawan specials on here that looked OK still but I took his old OEM stuff for the coating.

Good to know - thank you! I recently put in a new 105 box (which is amazing) but got nervous about clearance between the stabilizer and the frame. I should just add another leaf up front. Fortunately, Luke at 4x4 Labs was nice enough to help me out with the reaming.

Love following your builds, nice work as always!

How have you found these to work just using rivnuts and struts compared to the more refined offerings on the market which are $$$ and attach to the firewall.
Just fine. I put them on all the 60’s that come through here. No issues.
