I have all of these distributors on my possession. I’m replacing the vac retard that is currently in the 40. I have a brand new Pertronix with coil in the vac retard, plus the 78’ dist and fj60 coil/ignitor to go with it. Which is best? I’m assuming the 78? My only hesitation is wiring it up because the 40 has been reworked with a painless kit.

I wish I knew what the current problem was, but it’s kicking my arse. 18” vacuum and a nasty miss under a load. Running lean. Either way, I have a factory carb off a 78’ 2f and I take manifold I’ll be swapping over and want to go vacuum advance at the same time.

The 19100-61100 is the best choice in my opinion and here's why


- Made IN JAPAN / Toyota Genuine Part

- vacuum advance

- Medium size cap that has a rubber seal or packing to keep water out is a Overall Technology upgrade over the small cap 19100-60071

- no external adjustment timing dial to confuse things & leak water

- Pertronix Upgradable & pertronix Ignighter II up-gradable

- also has a high altitude port or vacuum retard port option if u need it or choose to use it

- forget the malory 2764101 ( its made in the USA or some other NON-JDM country )

- forget the vacuum retard 19100-60065 , ( Since u want to upgrade to advance u know why )

Put the Mallory in, get it working, and document the process well here on mud. That way I’ll have a build I can follow when I try and get the Mallory in my rig functional. Thanks in advance.
