^^^^ Same here. I have just caulked the seem to stop the drip. You can always easily pull the caulk off when you need to open things up to clean or repair.
You can also use FIPG to reseal the cover. FWIW I've had better luck with a form-in-place-gasket than with the OE gasket itself.
The foam gaskets just don't seem to last very long

And here's his vid on taking it out.
Not sure if you need the new cover to use the filters or not.

The drain is on the firewall, in the engine compartment; it's blocked. This is a maintenance item.
Use a long, flexible tool (a wire or pipe cleaner) and clean it from the engine compartment side. Alternately, but only if you enjoy...
Could still be a battery, but i wouldn’t count on it.
I had the same issue, last year.. cleaned the posts, made sure everything was tight and clean. Still same light on idle, and went away while driving. I had an extra battery to toss in.. no...
One of my TO DOs is to finalize in my head the real world unbiased differences, advantages, disadvantages, likes and dislikes between the 1hundy and the 2hundy.
As of now, I can't imagine it is easy for anything to beat a 1hundy. But I don't...
Bittersweet day. Traded my 100 series for a 200 series. After many years of faithful service it was time to upgrade. 316,974 miles on the clock. I’ll miss the old girl😢
Hard agree with this. It's probably a failed (or failing) globe. But follow the process, do a graduation test and you'll find the culprit.
Unless the actuators (shocks) are leaking they don't need to be replaced, the have some valving...
I’m a fan of the OE rims. The 16” ones on the early 100s in particular are functional and so cheap they’re practically disposable, but they don’t need to look that way. I scored some on FBM for next to nothing, but they were covered in...
Updated front end lighting. Installed my LED retrofits from TEQ Customs. Light output is AWESOME!!! Also installed new OEM corner lamp housings and new fog lamp housings along with some Weather Tech lamp guards to protect all the new housings...
Well, not what I wanted to find when installing @medtro's kit. His kit got the truck going again, I might just wire the power straight to the battery as suggested, but also think I might pull the painful trigger on the whole fuse box.
Props to...
New Here - first post. I’ve always dreamed of owning a Land Cruiser, and I finally made it happen with a 2003 100 Series. I absolutely love the styling and body lines on this model year. I was honestly surprised to find a touchscreen display in a...
Adding a photo from factory service manual. It’s a little hard to see but maybe you can see the recommended settings and marks (as in my above photos). Idk but it looks like your mechanic may not have got it on correct. Like others have said even...
Revival here but curious if these timing marks look proper? Since timing belt service, seems like engine is less responsive and very sluggish going uphill like pulling a trailer.
Well I may have just committed one of the most blasphemous acts known to planet Mud. But because I am doing this for ALL mudders' benefit, so you don't have to, hopefully it is not worthy of a Mud Excommunication. 😂🙏🏼😎
The sin---- > I now...
Perhaps.... but "super cheap" ? An actual failed AHC piston is very uncommon but the weeping is not uncommon and a very manageable option that costs pretty much $0 ....which is super cheap.
I hear ya and you are soooo right. I have had one for a couple years now. I just got another one a bit smaller and will keep the larger one in the '06 overlander for camping.....and Costco. Nothing like cool water bottles and no melted ice to...
