I'm new to this side of Mud, but I will probably be here a lot more as I am looking at building up my Tacoma bit, so I figured I'd introduce myself. My Tacoma is bone stock TRD Sport with the 4.0 and an automatic (unfortunately). I have kept it...

Recently bought a SKF hub and bearing assembly through eBay. It was $169.00 and free shipping. I look at a lot of reviews and SKF supposedly is a better brand . There is cheaper ones out but I hate doing repairs twice. I’ve only put on...
Bump for any new comments on supplier of hubs/bearings. Don’t really want to deal with pressing on and off if I can buy already together and good quality. Toyota brand seems kinda high compared to what I’m seeing for aftermarket but it’s hard...
Did second oil change today at 6319 miles. I intended to do the change at 5K but couldn’t get it done before a road trip last week, so with my 1st oil change at 1160 miles, that 5159 miles on the oil.
Essentially the same experience as the...
Changed my oil for the fist time at 1160 miles. The oil was darker than I expected for 1000 miles but I really have no basis for my expectation here.
Another thing I noticed was that the drain plug is on the side of the oil pan like a lot of...
My OCD at work: Project Goldilocks isn't even drivable yet, but I get home from a trip and could not resist removing the awful Chinese pedal pads and putting on the sexy-as-hell factory Toyota pads I got.
When I raptor line the tub I will pull...
I took my rig for it's smog test (every 2 years) and was shocked it failed as a gross polluter, with high CO (too much fuel) I was shocked because it was running so well. My bad for not getting a free sniffer test before the actual test.
Some...
Installed the rear taillights. Took way longer than it should have. Had to drill and retap 3 of 4 bolt holes cause some dufus broke off 3 of them when disassembling years ago and waited till now to clean it up. Yes, I am the dufus.
Wow. Hat's off to CityRacer: package just rocked up this morning. This means I can get a few things done before going on my trip!
@cruisermatt yes, I guess they do look longer now that I have the rear wheel off.
I may have to wait a few...
I wanted to let you know that we have a plug-and-play speedometer calibrator for early FJ Cruisers available. We are working on speedometer calibrators for later model FJ Cruisers and should have something nice before the end of the year. I will...
Got this yesterday:
Looks like the right one. First thing imma gonna do is apply a light coat of FIPG to the backside:
So, use that black line as the guideline for the pump side (left) and the plate (right) and install the 3 phillips...
You should start with the correct wiring diagram for your rig. Use a VOM meter and a jumper wire to test each wire on the fuesd circuit that blows for both continuity and a dead short. Take out the bulbs and un-plug the head light switch to...
Well just because you bought new parts doesn't mean they are good. Some voltage regulators are adjustable. Your battery could have issues too. Check it for amp supply with a testor. Most testors can also do the charging system. Make sure the...
Easiest thing to test is your charging voltage, both at idle and then at speed.
Sounds like maybe either your battery is taking a lot of recharging (dying), or else your alternator is pushing a higher voltage output.
Maybe check that you don't...
I would limit driving it till you figure out what's up...if it really is throwing that many amps continously while driving, a charging circuit harness meltdown could occur.
