I find the 2H is quite sensitive to the level of the vehicle when checking oil.. minor changes in how the vehicle is sitting can give quite different readings on the dip stick
Here's the characteristic gouging past the rings of the cyl #2 (don't want to spam here with pretty much the same images). Same pattern is present on all of them to a larger or lesser extent.
The #1 seems having it the worst, gouging +...
Interesting.. I'd expect that to be around 1L/1000klms.. try blocking off the hose from the valve cover to the intake manifold and revving it to 2000rpm or so. I think a clearer picture is emerging.
What is the blowby like on this engine? Lift the oil fill cap when its running, for reference below is two videos showing the extremes of blowby, good and bad. For whatever reason some people find full mineral oil burns less in 2H, I have no...
That is more rust than I would feel comfortable with personally. Being he is in San Diego, finding a better rust free example shouldn't be too hard. I would keep looking.
Given the choice I would definitely go with the 1KZ-TE. I don't have any direct experience with them, but I've had a couple of 2L-TE's and they're what I would consider "fragile" engines, very prone to overheating, cracking cylinder heads and in...

Nice, I'll add that part number to my list.. I never said I had all the answers, but I now have one more for next time!
@cruisingjapan195 .. it appears the actual Denso compressor is in fact still available from OEX at least (CXD6222) if you...
