Hi there , glad I found a forum that seem to still be alive !
My name is Matt im from Canada (Quebec ) And I just got my 2nd Land Cruiser witch is a 1987 HJ60. Currently not running ,need a few things to be in shape... the plan is to change the 2h motor for a....2H motor and make a quick and clean paint job.
My first Diesel that I will have to tear apart and I think this forum is a good source of information as it always come up first in my google searches.
here is the monster :
need a few parts that im gonna get this week end with the replacement 2H (that I hope is better than mine) Engine is already out and Will be opened later to see why it failed Will let you know !
another canuk, welcome aboard this ship of fools
yup, a good resource it is n a good bunch of guys n gals also. but, be careful where you tread, i got lost in the back room n was gone for 3 days
its gonna be a slow build ahah , but be sure I will enjoy it,
but its alway s like that in rust fixing ... you know when you start but never when its gonna end .... Finally got my girlfriend to accept that its gonna stay the same color . thats gonna save me a lot of work
a little more progress on the passenger side , not oem looking but should hold. need to bush the rust out around it to get some meat to weld on.
Also need to find a kind of grommet for the filler neck and think what im doing with the vaccum /evap hoses aside it ... once done its gonna be blast and POR15.
A bit more progress... passenger side rocker done. Maybe gonna be able to finish what's left on this side next week. Then make my way to the driver side fixing the rear
Removed the quarter window , not much to fix there but still....
A bit more hammer game and finally got that lower section closed . Still need cleaning primer and sealer .... Also have to figure what kind of grommet I will put around the filler neck
the small hose aside witch seem to be mostly evap ? will probablu be drowned in POR15 and sealer ....
Time for a bit of cleaning tonight , might finish welding the wheel arch making sure the door will fit right too
FINALLY welded the wheel arch will begin the other side soon , once the side window frame will be repaired.
Cant wait to have time to go pick my new old frame ... 4h drive from here so 8h total is not something I can decide on last minute.
Also found a nice alloy front bumper from a 80 series ... will cut and mod it to have it fitting right it has a bent corner anyway and need work as you can see
Thx !! Had to remember a lot from my trade school to do that ahah Hood went up while runing too on this truck ... fixed that yesterday but didnt picture it .
Epoxy primer , is bought and paint too... we should see some more dirty work soon !
