I dont think there's much doubt. Also those testers can deliver false positives.. When the problem occurs the definitive signs for me are visible gases coming out of the radiator and/or lots of large bubbles.
I cant confirm right now, but there's a strong chance the 2H hoses are a direct fit? Those hoses are readily available brand new from Toyota.. Two part numbers

I have two good images here showing the two versions of the bellhousing .. one of the images points out a couple of casting differences that can help identify them. 2 new items by Duncan Margetts - https://photos.app.goo.gl/hnYqW1adf8RiinRj6
Yes, an early 60 bell housing is unclocked and...
The vehicle held 4th at 80kph coming up a hill that kills every other 2H I have driven up it (Southern Expressway, Adelaide).. I am sure it would have held 90 had there not been traffic in the way. Usually I am down to 60kph in 3rd even with a runup to 100kph..Fully loaded in my HJ47 even...
The big problems are cropping up now.. dipstick came out, but wouldn't go back in.. was jamming at the bottom.. tried a spare one too. Brought the tube out and managed to fish this out of the bottom of it!
165klms and the, real, most significant issue is still the non functional fuel gauge...
This 2H seems to be off its nut!!
This is the culmination of a 3.5yr build of an HJ60. It's an amalgamation of about 5 different vehicles. The engine is from a rusted out beachside 60 series that I think had about 250,000klms on it. No turbo fitted, but It genuinely feels like its turboed...
I'm not a fan of turbos on 2Hs and I dont have such a checklist.. but I'll contribute that the cooling system needs to be in tip top condition, a turbo will find every weakness in your engine.
Viscous hub in very good working order
Water pump changed at least some point in the past few years...
I would remove the water pump/alternator belt and then check for wiggle in the fan (indicating a water pump issue).. drops of water on the crank pulley is a classic water pump failing symptom. If the water pump hasnt been done in years - I'd absolutely go in and change it pre-emptively anyway...
The power on the 2.4litre 2L diesel engine in this little ute is more than adequate.. I can hold 100kph up a steep hill on my daily commute and its reasonably nimble off the mark. I really dont feel it needs more power at all.
Is the Turbo on a 2L-TE water cooled? This it outside my area of experience.. I wonder if this could be the source of frothing/air if that is the case? I only run NA diesels.
