No auto adjust. They need to be manually adjusted. Rear brake adjustment effects pedal height too. I'd pull the drums and inspect the brakes to make sure they aren't contaminated with grease or brake fluid. Then adjust them per the fsm.
I did not do any brake work with the axle upgradeo ther than new lines. Pads were good and brakes as I recall anyway were working well and stopping straight. Pedal feel does not change with pumping.
I know land cruiser brakes are a bit odd. Do...
Since rebuilding my front axle a couple months ago my truck pulls to the right when braking hard. I replaced the 3 soft brake lines during the rebuild. I've bled the lines a couple times. I have confirmed there is no air in the lines. It isn't...

Short story, from a 70 series.
I was in the same boat as you a few months ago. I think you'd be looking in the $25-30k range. There were a lot of rust buckets I saw on FB Markeplace from $5k up to $17k. All had quite a bit of rust plus who knows how much other work...
Glad you made it. Looks like a ton of fun. Kinda jealous.
This is completely off topic, but is that a 3rd brake light I see? Kinda like that idea for safety reasons. When you have time, can you share more about that?
I'd probably never consider an SBC. I love the F and 2F. To me it's a big part of what makes the rig what it is. I've never driven an SBC 40 though and there are people I would consider intelligent that have them and like them so it comes down to...
I finally got my fj40 engine swap done as of Sunday/Monday No more leaky worn out SBC now it has a beautiful 2f. Its running and driving! I apologize about the vertical video quality.
Finally got around to fabricating my parking brake lever mount for my 81 rear axle. A couple of hours of playing around, if I did this for a living I would be in the poor house. It does work so I will be disconnecting the original dash mount...
I recently got a carburetor in for rebuilding with a note from the customer saying that it had a flat spot after the last shop worked on it. Now those of us who've fussed with carbs for any amount of time know that there are many, many reasons...
The majority of the modern world believes it unthinkable to drive a 50 year old vehicle with most of its primitive originality intact across the country. I am glad there are still guys like you that don’t adhere to that belief. Thanks for taking...
Here I am wanting to get my 40 to the point I can take it to the grocery store.
And you’re over here driving yours the length of Route 66. On bias tires. In a couple weeks time. Bravo my internet friend.
I’m enjoying this journey.
Stopped at a couple obligatory Route 66 stops.
Despite all TEOTWAWKI predictions of a new ice age in LA, this is what greeted us.
Let's be honest. LA still sucks. But Santa Monica/Venice Beach is breathtaking. And I put a bid on a nice room...
Looks like the missing parts from you earlier photos are in your Cruiser already.
I did this last year. I too decided to bite the bullet on the SOR seat foam and upholstery kit. It was spendy for sure but I haven't regretted it for a minute...
