Are you running the correct battery? Group 27F is the correct style and has the positive on the back left side. If someone used a Group 27 it would be opposite and positive would be in the front left (I think the early FJ80's were this way).
I have the older Kaymar bumper on mine and used the spindle caps from Slee. Being in the US, Kaymar had no interest in replying to my requests for their version, but you may have better luck since you are "local" to them. I did suggest this for...
Would the center bearing cover for a trailer tire work. Many swingouts seem to take advantage of the standard sized part, which will snap right on and stay secure presuming it fits.
Not arguing that a more rigorous approach by the community to reporting the problem to the NHTSA might finally yield results, it's worth noting that a solution wished here be a few in this thread is already in hand - and currently even in stock...
The Flying Pig for Sale
I am out of the country 18 of the next 36 months and listing my FJ55 for sale.
It is my dream build will all the fun Toyota parts available. I’ve put 10,000+ miles on it.
I don’t know of another 2UZ, manual...
Has anyone purchased these console fridges?
I am currently looking to purchase a frig to replace my center console, the “Benchmark” Dometic CF-11 that is no longer available new from the manufacture. We know it fits in the 80 series so lets look...
Greentruck. I deleted my third row seats. The belt from the third row is a pretty good fit. Just a bit shorter. The eyelet that bolts to the vehicle has to be flattened and bent a bit, but its so nice to have a never used belt, that matches...
This is pretty much the set-up on my LX-450. |Plus it has OME coils, 850 in front and I recently stepped up to 864s in back after adding enough fuel tankage to carry 79 gallons plus 33 gallons of water and lots of camping gear. The shocks are the...
It should. The difference between gas and diesel is internal. The gas one has the restricted opening that only permits the narrow fill spout associated with no lead gas to fit in properly. The diesel might technically be illegal on a gas truck.
FYI, I have a complete factory underfloor tire carrier sitting in the garage, recently removed in order to install a Long Range America 42-gallon auxiliary ttank (story and pics coming soon.) It's yours for the price of shipping. Gotta keep those...
Drove about 500 miles over three days towing this load, a 19' Carolina Skiff loaded with turtle traps. A heavy load. Most of the driving was interstate at 65+/- with mileage running ca. 9-10. This is about what I had expected. Also had the AC...
Superwinch X9 is off the LX450. When I bought the Cruiser the winch worked sort of, not well. I had it off, cleaned all the contacts and wire ends, reinstalled and it still failed to function well. I need a winch I can depend on. The '77 FJ40...
Replace every heater and coolant hose under the hood, dont be like me, throwing 2k worth of tires and wheels, and then skip the heater hoses, only to have the PHH split and start to spew coolant 6 hours from home.
Thanks for your support, fellows. I do a lot of my own work, but less and less as I'm pushing 70 - the spirit is wiling, but the flesh is increasingly weak. Then again, I just finished installing a Cruiser Company rear bar and swingouts and a...
Long Range America sells The Cruiser Company high clearance rear bar with integrated receiver. Great hitch , plus really cleans up the back end of the 80. I'll try to get some pics of mine up .
While ARB seems to be the most popular aftermarket locker, my use case has pointed me towards the Eaton E-Locker. I feel the need for only a rear locker and like having the lock-up at the flip of a switch - without the need to also maintain an...
Great explanation on Australian UHF.
I’ve used HF extensively in east Africa and Middle East. We mount our aerials on the bull bar almost exclusively with two special trucks mounted on the side or rear due how they came to us.
The front mount...
Yeah, to echo what @mudgudgeon said, UHF is the standard way people do vehicle to vehicle comms in Australia these days. Mounting on the front of the vehicle like that is preferred. If you try and mount off the back of the vehicle next to a...
