Oof you are giving me flashbacks of having to lay on my back on the drivers floorboard and then contorting myself to reach up into the dash to find that stupid little button to push while still being able to pull the knob. Sometimes they were...
A few house projects in the rearview and bow elk season almost done; finally getting time to get back on this. Crazy, I thought I’d be driving it by April! Long block is all assembled and painted. Running by October(?) is the plan…. Currently…...
I went to that rabbit hole of a thread and found it. I think this is what I will end up doing. The end product just looks so darn good on your 40 !! Thank you @EWheeler and @Chungas Revenge for the original idea!
You can get similar alloy wheels in 17" size. Fifteen52 analog HD and Nomad 504 Field. You can put OEM or OEM style hubcaps on both, Nomad offers the hubcaps separately from the wheels and the wheel has accommodations for installation. The...
Changed the design to use a part that's in-stock so board assembly doesn't have to wait until Oct 10, re-submitted my PCB order with the manufacturer now.
Will update on board arrival ETA in the next few days & will take orders once I have...
Giving the primer one more day to cure before color coat. Almost there!
Scored this little gem a couple months ago. Been looking for a long time but could never stomach the asking prices. This one popped up for a much friendlier price so I went...
Also of note, since my distributor cleanup, I’ve been averaging almost 14.5 mpg vs the 11.5 mpg from before. Seems to have better power, not downshifting on hills that I used to and can hold 5th gear at 70 on some longer hills now. Still need to...
Oil and filter change, new fuel filter, chassis lube and tire rotation day. Wife’s Highlander even got its service.
Cut my fuel and oil filters open and much cleaner fuel filter since sealing the tank. Oil filter has no worrying metals so that’s...
You can use a bunch of tire plugs to repair a sidewall enough to get you off the trail. Alternatively, you could get a sidewall patch kit such as Glue Thread. They are not cheap but appear to get good reviews and if it gets you off the trail...
Hi, I posted in the "what did you do this weekend" thread that I upgraded my '84 FJ60 headlights to Holley Retrobrights. Several folks wanted a report about their performance. Instead of gumming up that thread I thought I would report here.

I installed a pair of Holley Retrobrights Sunday morning. Nice improvement compared to the stock lights when shining against the garage wall. I assume it will be the same driving at night.
Got the bottom painted today. Did heavy body seam sealer on the welds then top coated in 2k black that was nearing expiration so it was good I finally used it. Top next!
Finally got this stereo installed! I was sitting on this project for too long. I had to take the dash out like 8 times to get it centered in the opening just right. What a pain! But its nice to have tunes again.
Speaking of tunes I had an issue...

Thankly these legends at Junk Garage Almaty did a job on it and we could continue our journey east !
Also met a Kazakh 62...one of only five 60s in the whole country !
It’s a slow going project but I am getting there. One corner per day. For me, it’s hard to get into the positions under the truck and then discover my 17mm socket is over there and out of reach. That’s All on me, the job is quite easy to do and...
Excellent, nice work! I was thinking of a strategy for heat shielding. My plan right now is to make floor mats using the pyramid rubber and having a layer of insulation under it. I am still worried about moisture between the floor mats and the...
