PROJECT FOR SALE- 1964 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ40 with a LEXUS 4.0L V8 1UZ-FE/Auto tranny out of a Lexus SC400. Connected to sc400 auto tranny is the a Toyota(top shift) gear driven 4x4 transfer case by a new adapter kit from INCHWORM.
Complete body with hardtop and doors. Typical rust on rear and sides. No rust on doors. Some rust on gutters of hardtop(top in good shape though). ALL GLASS IN GOOD SHAPE.

I recently bought this 40 thinking that I would like it better than my 60...I love them both! I would like to keep both of them but unfortunately I need to unload one. I flipped a coin and the 40 lost.
I do know the that the engine was completely rebuilt about 3-4 years ago. I have the service record and po spent about 8500 just in the rebuild. I have a land cruiser specialist that services my 60 and he knows the history of this 40 b/c he is one that rebuilt the engine. He would be the one to talk to if you are truly interested.
It has a hard top and doors, no rust and original paint.
When I bought it, I had it gone through top to bottom and it runs great.

Unfortunately it's time to sell my dream ride. I've driven this beautifully restored FJ every day for over a year without a single hiccup. It's only got about 5000 miles on a rebuilt 2F. With a new one on the way, i've got to get a more "family oriented" vehicle. I had this one professionally appraised last year.

SOLD, thanks Matt! Price drop to SOLD (Mud price). I have to focus on other priorities so this rig needs a new home. It's a November, 1977 production date, 1978 model. PO swapped in a '79 2F, desmogged, added a Downey/Holley conversion with "1969" non-USA distributor (the kind you can advance/retard with a little knob on the side of the dizzy). PO drove it for years but then it sat, so it will need tinkering to get it running again. Motor turns freely.
PO also converted to Saginaw power, installed a shackle reversal, and lifted it about four inches. Those are 33s (one tire will hold air for only about a day, thus the stands), but 35s will fit, they just hit the rear fenders. Tub is pretty rusty, floors are gone on driver's...

Original FJ40 with very little rust. This cruiser was from southern Colorado once owned by Merle from classic cruisers. He installed the warn winch, power steering, and vintage air. The cruiser was then sold to a gentlemen in boulder co. He used it around his airplane hanger and local airport as a command vehicle till health reasons forced sale. I bought it from him with full intentions of keeping it. But life has away of changing things which makes this outstanding 1982 FJ40 survivor available for sale once again. I did purchase a pair of corner replacement panels from cool cruisers of Texas along with a new headliner, $400.00 value which will go with. The only spots of rust which are very minor I have pictured, one spot on...

I bought someone elses partially completed project tuned it up and made it easily driveable. It seems to have lift springs, Ranch 9000 up front and 5000 in rear. Up for Bid is a Freshly restored 3/1969 FJ40 L Frame off restoration, just like the day it was first taken off the lot! Every detail was paid attention too. Every nut and bolt was touched. Every part is NOS or restored. Museum quality restoration. Some lucky person will have a great investment that they can enjoy every day! its a dream car that screams cool!
2)Original factory Bolts were used after being cleaned. If Factory bolt Broke during tear down, it was replaced thoughtfully with Grade 8 bolts(Factory), or stainless steel if going to exposed to water.
3) close attention was paid to removing any rust by sandblasting every nook and cranny. Every part was restored down to the Jack and Partial tool kit.

This FJ had a full frame off restoration in 2009 and has approximately 78,000 miles. It has only had a few hundred miles since the restoration. It started its life as a 3 on the tree but it is now a 4 on the floor. It is not a numbers matching vechicle but all Toyota parts have been used in the restoration. We have photos of the restoration process (before, during, and after). There is well over $30,000 in receipts for all the work that was completed.

This is a very sad day. My dad and I bought a 1964 FJ40 from Danny Warden some years ago in California and trailered it back to Texas. Long story short, after some minor changes and a bit of tuning, I decided I would drive it from my dad's house to my house. It's about a 180 mile trip. I made it about 70 miles and the Pontiac 389 under the hood overheated. I cooled it off for about an hour and back tracked about 20 miles. Overheated again, so I called my dad to come with the trailer. Bring it home and find out there's no compression in the 2nd cylinder. Ring and piston... It runs strong the way it is. Located in Sheridan, WY. I am the third owner of this 1970 LC. It was bought new in Sheridan, WY, spent most of it's life in Hardin, MT, then some years in Billings, MT. I bought it in non-running condition from the original owner's nephew. I got it to run, replaced the springs and shocks, and converted it to four wheel disc brakes.
It starts reliably and runs pretty good. Interior is in mint shape. I think the carb needs to be rebuilt. It does not go faster than about 50 mph; it seems to kinda bog down at that speed. It may need new plugs. I gave it new belts and hoses, and new fluids, too.
I have too many cars and too many projects. This one has to have a new home.
