I am looking for a '79-83 FJ40. Would like power steering, no rust (at least no rust-THROUGH), possibly a mild lift like 3", clean strong engine (would like to keep with the 2F if possible), and preferably no major modifications. Worn or faded paint is fine with me, gives it character. I would prefer to find one in AZ, southern CA, NM, or southern Nevada so that I can see it in person before purchase. I am currently looking on all the common Cruiser classified web sites, CL, and EBay, but am thinking someone out there may be teetering on the edge of putting theirs up for sale, and I can tip them over the edge with my ad. ;) Thanks!

Added info: I want to stay away from diamond plating, must have hardtop and doors, price range $10000-15000.

Tell your boyfriend nice try.

Hi,

I will be selling my white '82 FJ40 in about a month. It has stock PS with and aftermarket cooler. Vintage Air A/C. Original engine w/ 106K Miles (excellent compression), rebuilt transfer case, new clutch, rebuilt carb, zero leaks. Jim Dickey in Gardena, CA went through it top to bottom.

Has a 2.5" OME lift, 31" MT tires. Presently it has Aluminum aftermarket wheels, but I will include a very nice set of correct chrome wheels. So CA and TX car. Currently registered and smogged in CA. The paint is original, but not perfect. Has a full roll cage. Line-X lined and just a couple of spots of surface rust.

It's a very nice FJ40 and configured for moderate off roading. The price will be somewhere between $20K and $25K.

Let me know.

Thank you to everyone who replied and sent me photos. I just bought a nice FJ40 last night from a guy in Washington state. I decided on a '77 and will post pics when it arrives. Some of you may have seen it on Ebay (rustic green). I'm VERY EXCITED!!! I like the rounded bezel better anyway and have the option of changing out the gears if needed. Thanks again! My husband will be glad that I'm not scouring the ads anymore!
