FJ-40 Build Project
Circumstances are forcing sale of a start-from-scratch project. 1970 FJ-40. Vehicle is from New Mexico - virtually no rust. Plan was to build a mild crawler/expedition/highway friendly vehicle with sprung over FJ-60 axles, outboard springs, freshly built Gen I 5.7 Vortec, soft top, 35s. Suspension parts and design are from Redline in Colorado Springs. Current state of vehicle is bare frame - sandblasted and ready for welding spring perches, engine mounts and everything else. Body is stripped of every nut and bolt and ready for paint prep. L460E automatic. Front housing is cut-and-turned with new perches. Lexus GS 470 brakes. Pre-fabbed rear-anti-wrap bar. No transfercase, no rear axle, no seats. Everything else is available...
Hey there.... I have a 1980 FJ40 with the original 6 cylinder/4 speed combo. It has P/S, PB, and front discs. Has new gas tank. Interior is in great shape with decent stereo, front buckets and rear bench seat. It's in decent shape with 33" tires. Has some rust in the rear corners and doors. Not sure on price but was told it should be worth $6k from another LC owner, so we'll start there. Tried attaching pics, but couldn't access them. Will send pics upon request to e-mail or phone.
Need Help, Considering Selling 81 FJ40
Not sure if this should be posted here or not, but I am seriously considering selling my Cruiser. Need to get a more family friendly vehicle, as we just had a second child. I was wondering if it would be worth the trouble to sell it so we could get a better vehicle, or if I couldn't get much for it, I might just keep it, as I really love driving it. I drive it to work everyday, but is does have some major rust areas, including no floorboards left, which I covered with two steel plates, and the rear tire carrier mount is rusted. Overall, mostly original, and has working factory air, fully charged w/ R-12. What do you all think it might be worth? I live in North Georgia, by the way. Thanks! I have lots more pics,

It's no show queen but is a very solid truck with lots of nice upgrades like power steering, 4plus bumper, new seats, stereo, etc. Listed on CL for $11,900 - no trades, sorry. PM me if you want to come check it out. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4585021952.html
I am facilitating a group effort to buy a 40 for my brother as a surprise wedding present. He had a 40 in the 80's while working around the oil patch in Montana and around the West. Must be turn key, not interested in a project. The idea is for me to source and purchase the rig and show up at his wedding in Colorado where he now resides. Rig can be picked up pretty much anywhere in the US…. interested in/prefer: - turn key ie not a project or needs this needs that... - no rust, - highway/street worthy - light trail use (don't need 35's 4 inches of lift, etc.) - stockish appearance (no straight vertical stack dual exhaust/mercedes front end, etc….) - not scared of mods/"upgrades" (disc brakes, power steering, mild lift, etc.) - can be...

Looking for options (including aftermarket) for a hard top and possibly doors to fit my 1978 FJ40. I bought it last summer, not expecting to have top, but found original top and doors. Top was stored outside for many years and is looking beyond repair or extensive repair, while doors where stored inside barn, but have some rust along bottom, where they set on concrete.
Bedford, VA 1978 FJ40
Time to part with my 1978 FJ40. Bought almost 2 years ago to the day. Has been sitting in the garage collecting dust since winter for the most part and it's time for it to go to someone that has the time to enjoy her. She still starts up every time no matter how long she has been sitting (been about 2 months now before today and she started on the first try when I pulled her out of the garage to take a few pictures). Below are links to the build thread from the previous owner and a thread I started about what has been done since I've acquired her. Have added gas struts for the lift gate, new felt for the windows, replaced the fuel lines under along the frame (both rubber and stainless steel), and installed the lower dash pads in...
We'll I've been 2 years without a cruiser and the bug is back. Restored an FJ60 a few years back and now my son wants to learn to drive on family farm. Thus a great cover story for Dad to get him something to do that....I'm looking for a running minimal to no rust FJ40. Budget is around $10k. Live in SE Missouri so closer the better but I'm not afraid to ship from distance. I don't mind a little work to be done if price is right as well. Thx Mark
I am selling the 40 to move up to an 80/100. I absolutely love this 40 but with the family I think we would get more use out of a bigger vehicle and I only have room for one Toy vehicle. You can follow my signature to the build thread and check out lots of photos. If you have specific questions or would like to see something in particular just PM me. The link to the CL ad is below. I would like this to go to the MUD community so let me know you saw it here and I am selling for $14K. I am interested in trades for the right 80/100/Lexus Clone. Thanks for looking. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4552934165.html
Hello, I have recently helped friends find the FJ they wanted here in Central America and had them shipped to the states. If anyone is looking for a particular model, please feel free to inbox me and I will do my best to find a quality FJ. I am originally from Texas and have had 2 FJ40's and an Fj60. I now live in Costa Rica and this has allowed me the time to locate a vehicle for my friends. This included inspection and photos/videos. There are many here in Central America as many of you already are aware.
Hey Guys, I'm a new member, but have been following this forum for the past year or so. I'm looking for an fj40 project in the Charlotte area that i can work on with my Dad. The plan is to work on it with him, and then give it to him as a present on his birthday next year. He always talks about wanting one when he was younger, so it should be pretty fun. I don't need an engine (already have one), and it doesn't have to be in great shape, just workable. If you've got one sitting around or know of one in my area, let me know!
I owned a 1970 FJ40 about 20 years ago and we unwillingly had to part. While I have been looking for years, I am now ready to pull the trigger. We are on the east coast, and that would be preferable but I would be willing to travel most anywhere if its a good rig. I would prefer an original that I could restore over the years. Budget is around 10k. Any leads would be really helpful. Thank you! Kmall-
So I have been looking to get my wife a freeborn red fj40. I haven't been trying that hard but thought it wouldn't hurt to post. Soooo...If you have one your thinking of selling let me know. I'm not really wanting a project but it can have a few issues. I would prefer almost rust free or some easily manageable cancer. I have a skyblue 78 I was intending on repairing the floor pans and some other rust areas but I think I will see whats available so she might actually get a cruiser before she is too old to drive! Thanks
1976 FJ40 Land Cruiser
1976 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser for sale, $69,000 This Cruiser has just finished a restoration over the past winter at Cruiser Solutions of Hampstead New Hampshire. It started out as a friend's project in 2004/5 that I bought and then was never able to complete my self, having moved back to Breckenridge Colorado in 2010. I decided to send it to Cruiser Solutions in the fall of 2013 to be finished. In short the build went on to include a hot dipped galvanized frame, an aluminum body kit with the exception of a steel hood, full paint, a BesTop soft top with 2 piece soft doors, rebuilt engine, re finished seats, ARB front bumper, Kaymar rear bumper with spare tire and dual jerry can swing outs, and nearly every other part either...
