The FJ had approximately 300 miles when I picked it up and it now has 1,200 of local, Texas miles. I have been the only owner and only driver of this vehicle, and the FJ has been garage stored since purchase and has no damage, dings, dents, or mechanical problems. The only modification I've made to the FJ is to add a dual engine cooling fan from a single fan to handle the Texas summer heat. I have not taken the top or doors off yet...

The shop I take my cars to had this 1977 FJ40 sitting in the yard. I don't know much about it other than the basics. They just put a DUI distributor in it and I know it runs...not sure how well. I don't think it had AC but it does have a winch and some auxillary lighting. It appears to have some kind of slow drain on the electrical system because it will drain the battery over a day or two. It is not perfect (diamond plate on quarters and floor) and will need some work.
The rig is at J&L Rodwerks (940-300-2571) in Denton, TX, for $5000. They're good guys and haven't steered me wrong on any of my visits. Jacob at Rodwerks can give mechanical details I can also check it out again/take more photos since I live just down the street.

This 1976 might be of interest. I just brought her back from Colorado and the truck starts, runs, drives and stops great. Mechanically she's very strong. Original paint and some original rust to go with but pretty straight forward resto if you want to go down that road. The truck is on eBay but $9,500 takes her.

Very original untouched or altered FJ40. Will need minimal body work on driver floor board and rear corners. It starts, runs and drives, but will not drive long distance it may need a clutch or adjustment. I have a 1971 engine, trans and transfer case that goes with it for parts. $8000.

I have had this 40 for almost 7years. I was building it for my daughter and she has changed her mind... Imagine that. Anyway I have all the origanal parts that go to this 40. Idea was to get it running safe and after she graduated tear it apart and restore. With that said I have keeped it stock with exception of a few things to improve safety and easy for her to drive. As she is 14 I was taking mine time putting toghther. There are a lot of parts that need to be checked and put back on. Body is in great shape. Has a dent on drivers front fender ( very useable). The top is for a early 40 and PO made it fit. Doors are in Great shape with no rust. Have origanal ( to this 40) rear jump seats... In ok shape. Have number matching engine...

Hi, I am an extremely long time lurker but this is my first post as I don't own a Cruiser. SOLD SOLD SOLD Selling a currently non running 1970 FJ40 here in northeast PA. Here is the title for the link on Mud back in July of this year that attracted my interest enough to buy this truck: 1970 FJ40 for Project or Parts in Northern NJ. I couldn't copy it as a link so you'll have to search a bit. As Jim mentioned in his original post the frame will need repair at some point in the futre although it is not currently a problem.
Basically it's the same truck except that the rollcage has been sold and the disc brake setup is gone, too. The birfs were rusted and unusable in the disc brake setup. Good news is the dash is uncut and unmolested as is the engine and underhood. It's basically complete in these areas. It does turn over...

Putting a feeler out there for my cruiser would really like to trade for a FJ40
I have an 83’ FJ60 that I want to sell for $11,000 or trade for a FJ40 of equal value . This 60 is well built and extremely clean. The chassis has 225,000 miles on it and the motor was rebuilt approximately 75,000. The 60 will do 60-65 MPH down the freeway with no problem (Slow but it is a 2F powered 60) the drive train is all original 4 speed tranny and stock t-case. The rig has been sprung over and sits on Old Man Emu springs.

We have owned our FJ40 for 21 years and are the second owners.
We bought her while we were living on Kauai in 1993 with 23,000 original miles. First owner Calvin Tokita used her to hunt pigs on the west side of the island. (Probably explains why I found matted fur under the seats for years)
We shipped the 40 back to San Diego in 1993 and she has resided their ever since.

This is a nice Cruiser that could and would be my daily driver if I didn't need a pick-up for work. I bought it about 8 years ago in Nampa, Id. The previous owner said he brought it up from California. Thats about all I know of its history. There are more things that I have fixed or upgraded over the last 8 years than I can remember but I will try to get most of it on here.
-Rebuilt original F155 Toyota 6 cylinder motor with plenty of pep and power. (about 10,000 thousand miles since rebuild.)
-Upgraded Australian H41 4 speed Toyota transmission. (This has a 4.925:1 1st gear rather than the American 3.555:1.) Still has the stock lower geared 3 speed transfer case which gives it a super nice crawling gear. And it is all stock Land...
