I have sustained an injury (hip injury) that is preventing me from working on my cruiser. While I was leaving the doctor's office, my 1994 s-10 blazer's tranny went out:mad:, leaving me without a vehicle. I am going to have to sell my 71 fj40 for whatever I can so I can afford to buy a useable 4x4. (My wife has wanted me to sell my "toy project" for years, and now I am forced to face the fact that it is in my best interest).
So...up for sale is my 1971 FJ-40 land cruiser. I bought this in 2005 in the hopes of owning and building up a cruiser. It had a 1F, 3spd/transfer case( I still have these parts). It was manual steering. The seats sucked. The cage sucked. So I tore out the interior...
$6500 - Original FJ-40 & very clean. No rust. Recently did a minor restoration. Had a mechanic that specializes in restoring go through vehicle. Complete new brake system and clutch with new master cylinders. Brand new tires and battery. Runs as good as it looks. This FJ-40 has been in our family for 20 years. We also have both the half bikini and full metal doors. The hardtop on the vehicle is to a 67 and not a 65. Has been painted to match.

I am not excited about this sale but for financial reasons I need to sell it. I purchased this truck as a project for the purpose of using it as a daily driver and trail rig. It is not perfect as it some flaws but it would make a great daily driver or trail rig as were my intentions.

I've had this truck for 6 years, it's been in my garage for the last 4. I, unfortunately, find myself in a position of having to downsize so the 40 has to go. It has a recently rebuilt stock engine (07/08) with three year 100,000 mile warranty. Engine rebuilt by Jasper Engine Rebuilders (JASPER Engines & Transmissions: Remanufactured engine: diesel, marine, import) At the same time a new thermostat, pilot bearing, water pump, and radiator were added.
Due to excessive drive line slop I had the rear differential (new ring and pinion) and transfer case rebuilt (new high speed gear shaft) with a new transmission output shaft replaced. The rear diff and transfer case were resealed with Japanese gaskets and seals purchased from Kurt at Cruiser...
Sad to have to do this but, I longer have the time to work on the cruiser.

My 1977 FJ40 is for sale.
I have owned this truck since 1993, I am the third owner and it was bone stock when I bought it, it even still had the original spare tire on the carrier.
I had planned to restore it, but I got interested in building it instead. The build is mild, just a 3" lift and 33's and is actually perfect for the type of wheeling I do.
The reason I am selling? I decided to build a FZJ 80.
It's not the best looking 40, but the truck runs great and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.
