It's made with real f'ing tank treads for plowing your butt out of trouble when an angry hoard of the undead are trying to get at your think meat. Hey all, Well the time has come for me to sell this beauty too soon if you ask me. I don't have the time to get the use out of it I thought I would and won't for the foreseeable future. This was a great introduction to this community and family of cruisers, I know I'll be back at some point for another go. Hopefully it will go to someone with more time to enjoy it and work on it. I absolutely love the truck, it is a blast to drive and gets thumbs up wherever it goes! See signature, plus recent additional work: - signal lights fixed - new replacement fuel tank, filters, lines - new radiator, cooling system flush Needs - e-brake extension (been using 1st gear) - odometer/speedometer clean / fix - fuel sending unit (new tank, old...
1980 BJ40 w/ 3B, Turbo, tons of parts including H55F. Seattle, WA
1980 BJ40 from Costa Rica with turbocharged 3B. Good condition mechanically (aside from alternator). Previously a B engine, but swapped by a PO with a 3B + Nissan turbo sourced from Canada. Unknown miles on the engine, but I encountered no signs of any problems requiring work when driving it. My guess would be that it was rebuilt in the not-too-distant past. 12v system, metric instrumentation (reads 57096 km, no indication how many times it has rolled over). Stock gearing, locking hubs. Previously CA registered diesel, so I imagine it would do fine there again. Currently has 4 speed trans installed. Photos were taken recently, save for the one obviously outdoors which I'm including to give an idea of what it looked like previously, or...
Hello all - longtime lurker on the site. I'm in the market for my first FJ40, and keeping an eye on this site, Hemings, Craigslist, etc. Preference would be for a 77 to 80 with either the 2F or a V8 swap with 4 or 5 spd. Budget is $15-20k. I realize that's probably smack dab in the sweet spot of the desirable market. ;-) I'm located in S. Carolina but willing to travel to look. Thanks in advance(and apologies if this should be posted elsewhere)! Jon
Hi I'm a long time lurker and just joined the forum. I've had a few yotas in the past and finally am in a spot where I'm looking for a 40. I'm not opposed to a long drive to check one out but figured I'd post here and see if anyone has anything near Nebraska for sale. I've used searchtempest to check CL daily for about 6 months with no luck so far so thanks for any feedback or suggestions!
I have a 1966 fj40 for sale, it has a 1969 fj40 engine and a weber carb with electric chock installed. The engine runs good original PTO winch that works some surface rust on the from fenders and hood. All glass is good and the frame is solid, the tub however will need to be replaced or extensive cutting and welding to prepare rust spots. I will entertain offers, I am looking for a new home for it simple because I don't have the time to devote to her right now and don't want to see it rust away and not used. This is a really fun rig to drive. I am looking for around 5500. I will post pictures soon.
Perfectly Imperfect 1977 FJ40 57K documented
77Available for purchase is a 1977 FJ40 with 57K on the ticker. I have done my best to preserve this FJ and thank all who offered suggestions on my preservation post. What can I say? Everything works! When I purchased this I drove it home 1500 miles. I did get a few surprises along the way but nothing that left me calling for transport. I had a loose belt, temperature spike from the loose belt which was corrected with my channel locks, and a super stiff right leg. Other than these two things the trip was uneventful and as predicted I ran at 65 all the way getting passed with every mile. I may have passed a couple of vehicles along the way but I assure you it wasn't many. Since getting this FJ home I have spent a lot of time working to...

Thoughts on this 78?
I've been in contact with the seller of this 78. He is selling it for his 79 year old father in-law. His father in-law is the second owner and has owned it for about 25 years. He states that the body is all original, no patches or rust through. He also has no top or doors for it. He said the underside is a mess because the previous owner put undercoating on it and his father covered it in grease/oil every year. His father in-law had it resprayed about 15 years ago, not sure why. He father in-law said $10k for it. I guess I'm looking to see if it's a decent price if everything checks so I don't waste my time. And how difficult/expensive it would be to find a top/doors. Here are some of the pics I have. I do not know the...
