Out roaming around on a great SW Montana road trip.

Put about 800 miles on the 40 in the last week on a road trip around SW Montana into a remote corner of Yellowstone to go check on some fish. Got a great float trip down some major river knocked out, caught a few fish. Hit up almost every fly shop in that corner of the state (support them small businesses yo) and a few breweries as well. Braved the hordes of tourists petting the fluffy cows in Yellowstone.
Maybe a couple of near misses from the 40 along the way, it died a couple of times leaving a rest stop, acted like maybe the fuel boiled out of the carb, after restarting it and pumping the gas for a bit it smoothed out and away we went.
Being at a higher elevation it felt like it lacked some power, plus we were loaded down with a weeks worth of camping and fishing gear. A few times I caught the whiff of burning clutch. Maybe it was the big RVs hammering down on their brakes, time will tell.
I'm also dealing with a transmission issue on it, when in high gear and not under a load (say doing 60-65 downhill) it wants to jump out of gear, and not peacefully. Once out of gear it won't sync up to go back into 4th without getting it into 3rd first. Imagine smashing it into 3rd going downhill at 60-65. That sucks. Not to mention all the tourists that drive like they just came out of the city tailgating a slow moving vehicle.

Those racks were left right where we found them, for the next person to enjoy just as we did. Can't be a bad campsite if it has its own natural rod rack!

Sort of on subject here: I found what looks like a never been used Wonderod By Shakespeare No. 1286 Model F GB 2 pc fly rod with sock and original case. Is that a thing of interest do you think?
Came in a lot of stuff from a buddy who signed out early.

It's not safe inside the wire either. Good boots are important, an army marches on its foot gear first then its stomach!

That was probably a budget hardware store rod back in the 70's or 80's if I were to guess. Although there are a new group of hippies that are turning to fiberglass rods again just to try and remember what cool used to be. To the right person that rod might pull a good couple hundred bucks, to the average person it's a $10 fishing pole.

The reel holder on thing is all the way at the end, I thought that made it a fly rod?

Pretty much spot on with that assumption.
That might differentiate some styles of that particular model maybe.

My grandfather had a Shakespeare rod & reel. It was great.
Well shoot as long as we are totally derailing a thread I want in!
Caught this on a Shakespeare rod a couple weeks ago but it was a bit more of a heavy duty version.
