About to tackle installing new kdss sway bar end links and bushings as well as front lca. Is it necessary or best practice to loosen the kdss valves 3 turns, or is it not really necessary?
Just loosen them 3 turns. It’s easy and takes 2 minutes. The only reason not to is for folks who have the valve body all rusted and they can’t open the valves.

I just got finished installing a new suspension and had everything all apart, including the end links off the LCAs. I fought the KDSS for two hours getting the end links back onto the LCA’s. That was hard enough. I can’t imagine how much harder it would be fighting additional hydraulic pressure. There’s a good thread on reinstalling the end links.

It makes life ALOT easier when doing suspension work and as long as you do not do something dumb like go more than three turns you’ll be fine.

It makes a MASSIVE difference.

I've done it without loosening once (rusted solid shutter valve screws) and it was doable but much more of a pain - I had to use long prybars, ratchet straps, etc.

Only 3 turns each!

I slather my shutter valve screws in anti-seize now before retightening.
