I couldn't really find a better place to put this. So heres the deal

1994 Landcruiser

195k miles
Lockers
Salvage title supposedly due to theft
Body and interior looks really clean

What would be a price you'd be willing to pay?

What are we dealing with?
A salvage title can be anything from theft/broken windows/ stereo torn out to a rollover like mine.
What matters most is longevity. Will it run until your kids have grey hair? 195K is not a lot for a high-end Toyota. A Toyota can literally run for as long as you want to fix it. Plenty have made the 500,000 mile mark, and some have reached a million.
In my mind, my 80 is a life-long truck. I'll have it for life. I may have other cars, but the 80 is my truck. They don't make them like this anymore. After I finished the bodywork, I was offered a tempting amount for it. But that is my truck. You can't have it at any price! It is not for sale. It is my truck!

I paid 4100.00 for mine which fits your description except mine has a good title. 2500.00 sounds fair to me
 
Salvage title will negatively impact the price, but it's pretty much a wash - you should be paying a bit less now due to the salvage title and when (if) you sell you should expect less.

The $5k seems high and the $2500 seems a little low but a LOT depends on your location as pricing really differs between US/Canada and different regions in those countries.

Me? I'm with Brian's post above...once I drove mine a couple of times I have no intention of ever selling it.
 
The guy wanted 5k for it, I offered 3500, I don't think he'll bite, but who knows, he's had the truck for sale for a few months now

to put into perspective. I bought my 93 with 225k and all working lockers, no oil leaks everything worked except a window. Had been repainted in pearl white. Was totaled out at 8k miles in 95 according to carfax. I bought it because it had survived over 200k after it was totalled and was in far better shape than other ones i took a look at that werent salvaged. It came with brand new DC MountainCat 33s and OME medium lift on it already. I paid $4300 for it. Tires and lift alone + working lockers and no oil leaks at all sold me on it. Salvage title didnt scare me much especially since its survived in such good condition for over 200k miles.
 
Generally a salvage title reduces the value to ~ 60% of book value.

Since it's an old truck and you're not likely to resell it, the more important question is, what's it worth to you.:idea:

I agree... At this price point I really doesn't matter what's happen... As long as it wasn't frame damaged.... If you like it ..buy it

3K max...anything over 3 and you could find a clean title'd cruiser that needs a little maint. i would think.

salvage brings value way down. good for you bad for the seller.
 
were looking at this the wrong way. Salvage title isn't necessarily a bad thing if the car was wrecked and rebuilt correctly. How many times have you smashed your truck on the rocks and fixed her good as new. I know you must be new here, but do a thorough inspection of the rig and see if you can find any damage. Ask wtf the title is about. Having said that.. the title is in your favor it gives you great bargaining power. If the truck is clean i think you're in a good place.
 
Yea I do have an AE86. Its a SR5, nothing really special. Don't want to rip into it until I have a DD. Although I do drive a Nissan Frontier too, but I want an 80.

If it's truely in good shape and you plan to build it up and keep it who cares about resale value?

Now lets forget about the "title's condition" for the moment, do a good inspection, Front Axle, maintanence records, leaks, smoke, etc...

If I were in the market for a Locked '94 to gear up and you offered me one in great shape, for $4k to $4.5k I would seriously consider it.

I don't know about the states, but finding an LC locked in good shape is getting harder and harder to find.
